“Calm down, guys. If you two can’t behave, I’ll have Guido here kick y’all out.”

They duck their heads, properly chastised, and after this Guido checks the IDs of My Sons and the fae, he lets us all into the club.

Despite my earlier hesitation, I am quite familiar with the concept of strip clubs. The low lights, smoky atmosphere, and cages with women in various stages of dress is nothing new to me. Once I get over the thought of Callie being angry, I become quite comfortable in these surroundings. I choose a velvet-upholstered booth in the corner, one large enough to accommodate our party. My intent is to sit in the middle, behind the table, to prevent my friends from getting the bright idea to hire a lap dance for me, but Rick and Billy beat me to it, diving for the back of the booth before I can get in. My Sons file in next, followed by Holden, Matt, and the three fae.

The last seat available is at the end of the table, right on the aisle.

This is no coincidence; this is by design. I scowl at Holden, who merely flashes a falsely innocent grin. He knows exactly what he’s doing.

Holden raises a tattooed arm and snaps his fingers, and a scantily clad waitress appears with a tray of drinks. Bourbon, by the smell of it. She passes them all around, arching her back and jutting out her chest all the while, yet she never spills a drop. Rick and Billy’s eyes pop out in unison, and, true to their natures, they let out loud wolf whistles. The fae men each stuff currency in her bra straps, and Kalen whispers in her ear. She nods and sets her tray down on the table.

Here it comes. The dreaded lap dance. How am I supposed to enjoy this when I know what an insult it is to Callie?

The busty waitress seems to have no qualms about it, though, and even licks her lips as she properly sets her eyes on me. I wish I’d taken the time to tone down my human glamour, but it’s too late now. She’s seen the Lord of Lust, and if the pheromones wafting off of her are any indication, she likes what she sees.

Though the song pumping through the club’s speakers is already halfway through, she has no trouble picking up the beat. She saunters to me and straddles my lap, her hips gyrating to the music. She even pulls the top of her bikini to the side, exposing one surgically round breast, and I turn my head to avoid looking. It’s to no avail, though, because she grabs my chin and turns me until I’m face-to-face with her pierced nipple.

She leans in even closer and murmurs into my ear. “Normally, we’re not supposed to let y’all touch us, but for you, baby, I’ll make an exception.”

Heat scorches my face as I leap up from the table. The girl stumbles backwards, but Finn jumps to catch her before she falls.

“I can’t do this …” I turn on my heel and head for the exit.

Holden’s faster. He blocks the door with his massive form, frowning.

“What’s the deal, dude? You didn’t have to do what she said. Just sit down and enjoy the show.”

“How can you say that? This whole excursion is an affront to Callie.”

The Alpha scrubs his face with his tattooed hand. “I can’t with this.” He looks back at me. “What do You want to do, then? How do You want to celebrate Your last night of freedom before the wedding?”

I heave a sigh. “I want to spend the night with Callie in my arms.”

That answer, apparently, does not suffice.

“Listen, if we’re going to do the human traditions, then You can’t see her again until the ceremony. It’s bad luck to see Your bride before the wedding. So, either pick a party or tell us to fuck off. We’ll respect whatever it is You want, but at this point, I know those horny guys aren’t budging. Our ladies are all getting lucky tonight, that’s for sure. I can smell the arousal at that table from over here.”

“I wish I could partake, but I can’t. Not in good conscience. Is there something else we could do? Another bar, perhaps, without women in skimpy clothes.”

Holden turns his gaze to the rowdy table of men. Even My Sons are having a good time, which I find odd. Won’t Elena be mad?

Pulling his phone out of his pocket, Holden dials. He waits for a response, but I can’t hear the other end over the pulsating bass in the club. After a hushed conversation, he hands me the phone. “Here. Reassure Yourself or something.”

I take the device and hold it to my ear. “Hello?”

“Az, baby, what’s this about You getting upset over being in a strip club? Are You feeling okay?”

Callie? “I don’t want to offend you, My Love.”

“Honey, just have fun. I’ve got three fake cops stripping for me right now. Actually, I think one of them is an actual cop, but he’s off duty, so I guess moonlighting as a gigolo is okay.” Callie shrieks and laughs. “Stop! That tickles!”

They’re touching her? “What’s going on?”

“Nothing important. Az, I love You. I can’t wait to marry You tomorrow, but for now, just let go. Have a little fun. I promise I won’t get mad.”

My jaw drops as Callie hangs up, and Holden takes the phone from my limp hand. “There. Permission. Now come on, dude. We’re gonna get lit and have a blast.”
