I turn in her arms and crush her to my chest. I hug her until I can feel that last little bit of tension leave me and then pull back to kiss her pouty lips. She accepts my kiss, and it morphs into something huge. I can feel my chest swell with emotion for this woman standing in front of me.

I will always know this is the moment that I fell in love with Bridget.

Chapter 38

Dmitri

Thefollowingday, wefinally start getting the answers we’ve been looking for.

“Your dad has his hands in a lot of shit,” Holden says, bringing up a ton of files on the big screen. “But this is where you need to hit him.” He clicks open a folder, and it’s bank accounts with a fuck load of zeroes. “This is his main money source. It’s buried really fucking deep, but we got access to it last night.”

“What do I need to do?” Ghost asks.

“Nothing,” Nolan answers. “All we have to do is cut off the funds.”

Ghost looks around the table and then back at them. “Do it. But I don’t want you to just shut it down. I want you to make sure heknowsyou did and clean out the accounts.”

“Where do you want the money to go?” Holden asks.

“Cancer foundations. Victims of human trafficking. Children’s hospital. Just make sure it all goes somewhere good. Make the donations under Gabriel Augustus,” Ghost answers. “If that doesn’t send a message, I don’t know what the fuck does.”

Holden nods. “I can also send him a little note, letting him know he’s very fucking broke.”

“We also had another idea,” Nolan adds, looking nervously around at us. “I think you should out him for this shit. Axel’s other team can make it happen.”

“Clean the accounts first. Let me think about the other part.”

“No problem,” Holden answers, sitting back in his chair. “What’s your plan for safety?”

“We’ll go in numbers and keep Bridget here as much as we can,” I answer. “This is going to piss him off enough that he’ll make a move.”

“You know you have us if you need it, right?” Holden offers.

“Of course,” Alexey says. “But you’ve fought your battles. We can handle this.”

“And when you can’t?” Holden pushes.

“We’ll be sure to call you,” Nik says. “We have it under control right now.”

Holden looks at Ghost. “I’m not trying to be an asshole, but I’ve seen how under control you’ve had this. You’ve already had your house shot up and then burnt down. And Shooter’s is a total loss. You’re a fugitive for the foreseeable future. How is that under control?”

I watch Caden slide his hand onto Ghost’s thigh and squeeze. I know Holden isn't meaning anything bad. He’s just pointing out the obvious. But we don’t want to involve anyone else in this mess. They’ve had their own share of bullshit to deal with. They don’t need this.

“You’ve been around Ryder too fucking much,” Ghost grits out. “When we need you, we’ll call. Until then, we do this our way.”

Holden shrugs, stuffs his laptop into his bag, and stands up. “Just know that if anything happens to Bridget under your watch, Les will be the least of your worries.” Holden jerks his head, and Nolan follows him from the room.

Caden watches them until the door shuts behind them. “Does anyone remember when he was scared of his own shadow? He’s actually scary now. It’s fucking impressive.”

Banger laughs. “I didn’t know him then.”

I did, and I’m damn proud of the man Holden has become. Love will do wonders for you.

Everyone starts filing from the room, and Banger stops me at the door. “You want to run into town with me? I need to check on Mom and Dad.”

“Sure,” I agree. I’ve met Banger’s parents, and they’re some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. They don’t treat me like Viktor Orlov’s son. They treat me like family.

We head straight to the garage, and Banger slides behind the wheel of Bridget’s Honda. I climb into the passenger side and raise a brow. “Does she know you’re taking her car?”
