Sitting in the chair, I sip on this one, planning everything I’m going to do to Lev and my father. I need to remind people who owns this town. I shouldn’t have ever given Lev a second chance. I should have put a bullet in his skull, and then he never would have gotten the chance to lay a hand on Jaxon. Every time I see the scars he left on Jaxon’s beautiful body, my blood boils, and my mind yells at me to get payback. The one who dared to threaten Jaxon with rape is Jaxon’s to take care of, and if he can’t, I’ll do it for him. I’d love nothing more than to feel his blood running through my fingers.

I put a guard on Kira just for my peace of mind. I just hope she can forgive me if I’m wrong.

My phone rings, and I dig it out of my pocket. Diego’s name is flashing across the screen, and I slide to answer.

“What?”

“We found him.”

I set my drink down so hard that it sloshes over the side. “Where?”

“Some run-down apartment building in the Bronx. One of his guys finally gave him up. I’ll text you the address.”

I’m already on my feet, moving through the house to find Blaze. “Anyone else with him?”

“A big, bald guy.”

“Stay on him, Diego, but don’t engage. He’s mine.”

“Yes, Sir.”

The phone disconnects, and I find Blaze with Jaxon and Eli in the living room. Blaze jumps to his feet when he sees me, already sensing what’s going on. “Where?”

“The Bronx. We need to move. Eli, you know the drill. Do not leave this house.”

“I know, Kane.”

Jaxon gets up and walks toward me. “Is this really it?”

“The guy who threatened you. What did he look like?”

“Bald, covered in tattoos, fat. Why?”

“He’s there.”

I watch that register on Jaxon’s face and cup his face. “You don’t have to do this.”

“Yes, I do.”

“Baby,” Blaze says softly. “Let us do this for you.”

“No,” Jaxon says harshly. “He cut me, beat me, and threatened to fucking rape me. I can do this.”

“He fucking did what?” Blaze’s voice has dropped, and I don’t even have to look at him to know that all softness will be gone from his face.

“I don’t want to talk about it right now. Let’s move.”

I grab Blaze’s arm when he tries to follow Jaxon from the room. “Not now.”

“Why the fuck didn’t I know that, Kane?”

“Because you weren’t in the right mind to hear it,” Eli says gently. “He was going to tell you.”

Blaze jerks his arm from my hold. “Let’s go.”

Jaxon walks back into the living room, tucking his Glock into the holster. He pulls a hoodie on to cover it up, and I see Blaze’s knife in a sheath strapped to his thigh. I don’t see any of the soft Jaxon that I’ve gotten used to. He’s even more guarded now than he was when we went after Captain Carls.

I don’t know what to say, so I go out the front door without a word, knowing they’ll follow. Jaxon slides into the far side of the limo when Dalton opens the door, staring out of his window. My eyes lock on my collar around his neck. Jaxon subtly reaches up and fiddles with the lock on the end, almost in a comforting way. When his blue eyes meet mine, they’re hard, with vengeance shining in their depths.
