“He left hours ago.”

Diego shakes his head. “Bullshit. We had this place covered. He’s here somewhere.”

“Find him,” Kane barks. Diego pulls out his phone, calling one of his guys. Kane sits on the edge of the coffee table, balancing the machete in his lap. “You know who I am, yes?”

“I don’t give a fuck who you are.”

Blaze circles behind the guy, twirling those damn knives on his fingers. Now is not the time to find them sexy, Jaxon.“You should. But he’s not actually the one you have to worry about.”

The guy laughs, faking bravado. “Let me guess. It’s you? I’ve heard this shit before. You don’t fucking scare me.”

“It’s not me,” Blaze says and points to me with his knife. “It’s him.”

“He screams like a little bitch. Why would I be scared of him?”

Kane picks up the machete and lays the tip of it between the guy’s legs. “You have one more time to say something like that before I slice your dick off.” Kane’s yelling is scary. When Kane is calm like he is now, it’s even scarier. Blaze might be outwardly crazy, but Kane is a controlled kind of crazy. “Where’s Lev?”

“Can you not fucking hear? He’s not here.”

Kane pushes the tip of the machete harder, making the guy wince. “Where the hell is he?”

The longer this guy sits silently, the more pissed off I get. I keep feeling like I’m back in that place, getting flashes of what he did. I start feeling every punch and every cut. My breathing speeds up, and I start backing toward the door.

“Scream louder. Fuck.”

“You won’t be the same when I’m done with you.”

“I can’t wait until we’re alone.” His hand roughly grabs my ass. “I’m going to use your blood as lube and tear this ass up so bad Kane will never touch you again.”

The guy laughing breaks through the fog, and I lunge for him. Kane stands up just in time to grab me around the waist. “Let me go!”

“Litso kukly–”

I start struggling against this hold. “Let me the fuck go, Kane! Goddamnit!”

“Listen to me.” There’s no mistaking the command in his tone, and I struggle with wanting to put a bullet in this guy’s head and listening to Kane. “Breathe, Jaxon.” I pull my eyes away from his smug face to look at Kane. “I’ll let you go right now and let you end this. Or we can wait and make him suffer. The choice is always yours.”

“I can fucking see it,” I grit out. “I can still feel what he did.”

“I’ll never be able to imagine what you went through. But this is your chance to take that power back from him. He’s yours to do with as you please. I just need the word.”

I relax in his hold. “I want to make him bleed.”

“Then that’s what we do,” Blaze says, pulling his fist back and punching the guy so hard in the face that his head snaps to the side. “That’s just to hold you over.”

A laugh bubbles out before I can stop it. “Thank you, Blaze.”

“Any time, Baby.” He gives me that unhinged grin, and I fall even more in love with him. He runs the blade of his knife down the guy’s cheek. “You have no idea what world of shit you stepped in.”

“Get him tied up somewhere,” Kane orders.

“Zuko said there’s a boiler room downstairs,” Diego says. “You take care of him, and we’ll find Lev.”

Kane jerks the guy to his feet, laying his machete against his stomach. “One wrong move and I’ll lay your insides all over this place. Jaxon, take up the rear.”

I position myself behind them, gun aimed, and we march the guy into the basement. Blaze and Kane shove him in the boiler, and I start searching for something to restrain him. I find some old rusty chains in the corner and drag them over. Blaze and I get one end of the chain around a pole of the ceiling and then wrap it around his wrist. Kane does the same with the other chain, and Blaze pulls on the chains until he’s suspended in the air. He’s still glaring at us, but I can see the sweat beading around his forehead.

“We’re your servants,” Blaze says. “What do you want us to do?”
