“I might just have some fun with you before I take you to Dalton.”Dalton? There’s no fucking way.

“You know Blaze is going to kill you. Let me go, and I won’t say a word.”

“Blaze isn’t going to do shit. With any hope, the crazy bastard is already dead. All of them should be by now.” That’s where the bad feeling in my gut was coming from. They walked right into a fucking trap.

He starts marching me toward the bed, and I don’t give a shit about the knife anymore. I start fighting him with everything that I have. His hold loosens, and I run toward the bathroom. Before I can get to the door, he grabs me by my hair and yanks me backward. I hit the bed with a bounce and try to scramble off the other side. Grabbing me by my ankle, he pulls me toward him, flips me to my stomach, and lays on top of me, trapping my arms. He presses the knife to my neck. “Fuck, I love when they fight.”

He starts messing with my pants and, using his body weight to hold me down, pulls them over my ass. Seconds later, I feel his naked dick slide against me. “Please, don’t do this.” I swallow bile and feel tears well in my eyes. He’s too strong to fight off, and the knife is pressing against my jugular.

His hand goes between us, lining up. I close my eyes as tight as I can, pretending I’m anywhere but here. The head of his dick pushes in, and a gunshot goes off. He slumps heavily against me, and then he’s gone.

“Eli.”Saint!

I roll over, trying to keep myself covered, and he averts his eyes so I can pull my pants up. I stand up, and when I’m decent, I take in how he looks. He’s covered in blood and swaying back and forth. “Holy shit. Are you okay?” He lifts his hand from his stomach with a grimace, and blood is pouring from the wound. “Oh my God.” I jerk my shirt off, shove it against the wound to hold pressure and sit him on the bed. “What happened?”

“Fucker stabbed me,” he gasps. He’s so pale that even his lips are white. “Did he hurt you?”

I shake my head, trying to shake off the feeling of him trying to push inside me raw. “I’m fine. We need to get you to the hospital.”

“No hospitals. Dalton is the one who betrayed Kane.”

“I know,” I say sadly. I know it’s better than Kane’s dad, but Kane trusted Dalton with our lives.

“I had just cracked through the last bit of encryption. It was covering up Dalton’s tracks, making it look like Vlad.” Saint closes his eyes and sways again. “I was coming to find you when this asshole jumped me from behind.” I try to lay him on the bed, and he pushes my hands away. “No. I need to stay awake. Lock that door.”

I rush over and lock it, then go back to him. “Saint, you’re bleeding really bad.”

Someone starts beating on the door, and I jump out of my skin. I refuse to let myself be a victim again. I pull Saint up, wrap his arm around my shoulders, and walk to the bathroom. He’s slumped heavily against me, and I stumble several times. I finally get inside, shut and lock the door, and lean Saint against the wall. He slides down heavily on his ass, out cold. I grab his gun, scoot against the wall in front of the door, and aim it. If they walk through there, they aren’t getting a chance to hurt us again.

The main door crashes open, and my hand starts to shake. I grab it with my other hand to steady it and wait. They start kicking the bathroom door, and I bite my lip to keep from making a sound. Several gunshots go off, making me jump out of my skin. This can’t be how I die. Blaze was so excited to get married, and we never got to make that dream come true. Was the guy telling the truth? Are Blaze, Kane, and Jaxon dead? No. There’s no way. I’d feel that loss, especially Blaze. A knock sounds at the door, and I shut my eyes.

“Eli?” That sounds like Blaze, but I can’t trust myself right now. “Sweetheart. It’s me. Please open the door.”

“I can’t.”

“Are you hurt?” What if someone is playing a trick on me? My adrenaline is at an all-time high, and I could be imagining him. “Stand back. I’m coming in.” The door crashes open, and Blaze’s panicked eyes land on all the blood. He drops to his knees, his hands shaking.

“It’s not mine,” I whisper.

“Holy shit,” I hear Jaxon say. “We need Doc now!”

“Sweetheart.” Blaze grabs the gun in my hand and gently pries it from my grip. “Are you okay?”

I shake my head, and tears start rolling down my face. He jerks me into his arms, murmuring softly. Scooping me into his arms, he strides from the bedroom, and I catch sight of Kane talking on his phone. I wilt with relief that they’re all alive. “It was Dalton.”

“I know,” Blaze answers. Bodies are lying everywhere, and he just steps over them. He goes to the living room and sits on the couch with me on his lap. “We have Lev downstairs. We got one of the other traitors, and he gave the rest up.” I look around the living room and see Diego standing guard with Zuko. Several of their men are taking up positions around the room. “Kane doesn’t trust any of the ones that didn’t scatter. We’ll deal with them later. What happened?”

“I was heating up some food when one of them grabbed me. They dragged me to that room and tried to…anyway, Saint busted in and killed him. I hid us in the bathroom when the other ones came.”

Blaze stares at me a long time before he grits his teeth. “Which motherfucker touched you?”

“I already told you he’s dead. He didn’t get that far.” I run my hand down his cheek. “We’re all alive, and that’s what matters.”

“Kane! I’m losing him!” Jaxon yells. “I don’t have a pulse!”

Blaze and I jump off the couch and run back into the bathroom. Jaxon has Saint on his back, administering CPR. Kane is pacing, barking orders into his phone. Blaze drops beside Saint and takes over chest compressions while Jaxon does mouth-to-mouth.

“Come on, Saint,” Blaze growls. “You can’t go out like this.”
