“Hey, Boy toy!”Fuck.Several eyes snap to me, and I try not to shrink under the stares. “Is that my pet?”

“I’ll stay here,” Eli says. “Can you find out how we can take them home?”

“They aren’t going home.” I see Kane’s shoulders tense at that voice, and I turn around. A guy walks up to the holding cell and leans against it. “These are serious charges, and they’re being held without bail.”

“Without bail?” I demand. “Can you even do that?”

“Nope,” Blaze answers, popping his ‘P’. “Did you become a cop to make up for your micropenis?”

“Blaze,” Eli hisses. “Stop.”

“I’d listen to your…” the guy turns to Eli with his nose turned up in disgust, “friend.”

“He’s my boyfriend, and I suggest you stop looking at him like that if I were you,” Blaze threatens.

A door slams open, and another guy comes barging in. “Let them go.”

“But…”

“But nothing, Michaels! Let them go and come to my office.”

“Oh shit. I wonder if something might have slipped through the cracks while you were holding us against our will.”

Kane stands up and rolls his shoulders back. “Let us out.”

With a shaky hand, he unlocks the cell. Kane steps out and bends down to whisper something in the guy’s ear that makes his face pale. Blaze bounces out and seals his lips over Eli’s in a quick kiss. “Where’s my car?”

“Impound.”

“You better hope there isn’t a scratch on it.”

“Let’s go,” Kane commands, throwing an arm around my shoulder. I can still feel all the eyes glued to the side of my head the whole way out. We all slide into the limo, and I melt against Kane. “We’ll come back tomorrow for your car.”

Blaze shrugs and pulls Eli into his lap. “Fine by me.”

“Kane,” I say quietly. “What the hell was that about?” They all share a look, and it’s starting to work on my already frayed nerves. “Someone needs to start talking.”

“We’ll talk about it later,” Kane says in his no-nonsense way, and it pisses me off.

“Or we can talk about it now.”

“Now is not the time,Litso kukly.”

I scoot to the other side of the limo against the door. “Then take me home.”

Kane turns dark eyes on me. “Excuse me?”

“If I can’t be fully involved in your life, I want to go home.”

“Your home is with me.”

I see Eli subtly shake his head at me, but I ignore it, choosing to lock eyes with Kane. “No. My home is at my apartment.”

I see the hurt flash across Kane’s face before it clears. “I said we would talk about it later, not that we wouldn’t talk about it at all. I’ll be more than happy to have this conversation with you in the morning atourhome.” I can hear the warning in his voice, and my brain is yelling at me not to push him. But of course, I don’t listen.

“I said to take me home.”

Kane reacts before I can blink, grabbing my arm and pulling me back against him. He leans down close to my ear. “I said we can have this discussion in the morning. I don’t play these little games, Jaxon. If you want to be mad at me, fine, but you can be mad at the house. I don’t want you out of my sight right now.”
