I’m still sort of pissed at Jaxon for the hurt he brought Kane by safewording on him. I’ve never seen Kane look so goddamn broken, and it made me want to break Jaxon’s pretty face. But Elijah said that it’s a shock when you find out something like that. I don’t see it that way because I knew very early on that the Lyubavas weren’t just your regular rich people. Kane confided in me once he trusted me and then trained me to be just like him, even though his dad fucking hated me. He would have locked me in a padded room if he had had anything to do with it.
“Blaze!” I walk toward the sound of Kane’s voice at the front of the house. I stop when I see Jaxon standing beside him.
“Yeah?”
“Diego just called. Lev had a shipment come in that wasn’t authorized by me. We need to go see what’s going on.” Jaxon doesn’t look surprised, so I’m guessing Kane’s decided to add him to the inner circle.
“What about Jax and Elijah?”
“They’re going to stay here with the guards.”
“Kane,” Jaxon starts but snaps his mouth closed when Kane looks at him.
“You aren’t going. I already told you that I’m not going to put you in any unnecessary danger,Litso kukly. Our relationship already puts a target on your back.” Kane pulls Jaxon to him and kisses him slowly. I watch Jaxon melt against him and stop the anger from rising to the surface over him hurting Kane. But if he can get over it, it looks like I’m going to have to. Kane pulls back from the kiss and pats Jaxon on the ass. “You have someone else to talk to.”
Jaxon walks over to me slowly, probably gauging my reaction since I’m keeping the expressions off my face. “I’m sorry.”
“Why are you apologizing to me?”
“Because I feel like I walked out on all of you, not just Kane.” Jaxon swallows, showing how nervous he is. “I feel terrible, and I promise I’ll talk it out next time.” Jaxon’s eyes drift to the floor, and I can’t have that.
“Look at me,” I say harshly, and his head snaps up. “When you address me, you look me in the eye. Do you understand?”
“Yes, Sir.”Goddamn. Two words, and I’m putty at his feet.It’s those fucking blue eyes.
“Are you sure you’re okay with who we are?”
“Yes.” I raise a brow. “Sir.”
“Are you done running?”
“I didn’t…” he trails off, looking even more nervous because of the look on my face. “Yes, Sir.”
“I think you need a lesson.” Both of Kane’s eyebrows shoot up, and I have to smother a smile. “What do you think? You think you need to be punished for running away, Boy toy?”
I watch every emotion pass across Jaxon’s face. When a look of determination settles there, I feel my chest swell with pride. “Yes, Sir.”
“Let us take care of business. When we get back, we’ll settle this. Now kiss me.”
Jaxon takes a step forward and presses his lips against mine. I let my hand slide down to his ass and jerk him closer, deepening the kiss. It pissed me off when he left for many reasons. One, it would destroy Kane if he didn’t come back. Two, something bad could have happened to him. Three, Elijah would be crushed. And the one I have a hard time admitting is that I would have missed him too. There’s something pure about Jaxon but with a lot of backbone. We might be able to bend him to our will, but it’s because he wants us to. I kiss him until I feel the tension leave his body and then pull back. “What now?” he asks quietly.
“I’ll text you when we’re on our way and what we expect when we get here. Elijah is out on our balcony.”
Jaxon pecks my lips, turns to Kane to do the same, and then disappears upstairs to find Elijah. I look at Kane, and his expression is entirely open. He fell hard for Jax, and it’s written for everyone to see. “Let’s move,” he finally says.
I follow him out to the limo and slide into the back to sit in front of him. “Is everything good?” I ask.
Kane nods. “Yeah. He asked for honesty. I don’t even think he was that upset about who I am. He was more upset that I lied.”
“You didn’t lie, though. You’re a businessman.”
“That may be the case, but it doesn’t change who I am. What’s your idea for punishment anyway?”
“Do you trust me?”
“Of course.”
“Do you trust me enough to let me lead this?”
