Kane’s face softens slightly, and he runs his fingers over my cheek. “I know you’re hurt too, Blaze, and it’s okay to admit that. Don’t give in to the voices.” I nod, and he pecks my lips. “I’m going to make some phone calls. I’ll see you at dinner.” I watch Kane walk down the hallway toward his office and head to my room.

I lay down on the bed, staring at the ceiling. The voices are at full volume, and there’s only one way to stop them.

By tonight, Jaxon will be dead.

* * *

I did everything I could to distract myself all day to prepare myself for tonight.

I look at a sleeping Elijah and carefully slide out from under him. I dress quickly and go to Kane’s room. I quietly push the door open, and Kane is sleeping soundly. I shut it and jog down the steps, strapping on weapons as I go. The voices are cheering me on as I slide into my car.

I drive to Diego’s, breaking every speed limit. When I get there, I park a block away to slip inside unnoticed. I slip through the shadows to Diego’s property line to see what I’m up against. Some guys are milling around, nowhere near as alert as they should be. When this is done, I’ll let Diego know he needs to train his security better.

I slip over the gate behind one of the guys and wrap my arm around his neck before he can react. I squeeze until his body slumps and then gently lay him on the ground. I don’t want to kill any of these guys. They aren’t my main target.

I duck around the corner and wait for the next guy, doing the same thing. Just one more to go. This one sees me before I can grab him. He reaches for his walkie, and I don’t have any choice. I jerk my knife from the sheath and slit his throat.

Kill.

Kill.

Kill.

I get two steps over his body, and the front door swings open, revealing more guards. I’m moving before they even start spilling down the stairs. I spin in a roundhouse kick and knock the front guard into the one beside him. Swinging my knife, I hit the next one in the throat. Within minutes, all the guards are down, and I’m creeping inside the house. I know where Diego keeps prisoners and head that way. Using the lock pick, I get the door open and push it open quietly. Jaxon is lying in the middle of the bed in a ball, and the voices get louder with each step I take. I shut and lock the door behind me.

Kill him.

Kill him.

Kill him.

I walk around the side of the bed and take in his gorgeous face one last time. His curly hair is in disarray, his cheeks are blotchy, and he’s frowning even in sleep. My heart twists painfully, and I rub a hand across it. He’s so beautiful like this.

He betrayed you.

He lied to you.

He hurt Kane.

He touched Eli.

I gently nudge him to lie on his back and straddle his waist. Pulling the knife from my sheath, I lay it against his neck. When the cool metal touches him, his eyes spring open. His blue eyes widen briefly before a resigned look settles over his face.

“Just do it, Blaze.”

I tilt my head to the side, putting pressure on the knife. “Why?” Eli told us what he said, but I still can’t grasp why he would do this to us.

“I thought I was doing the right thing. I didn’t know you guys then.” Jaxon swallows, and it causes the knife to dig into his skin, making a drop of blood roll down his neck. “I know you have to do this, and it’s okay.”

I follow the drop of blood until it’s absorbed into his shirt. When I raise my eyes to Jaxon’s, he doesn’t look away. I’m sucked back into the memory in my room after his punishment.

“Because of what happened. I need to feel you inside me. I need you to know that it wasn’t your fault. No build-up, just you. Please, Sir.”

“Thank you for still trusting me.”

“Always.”

“Play with your cock.”
