“I went to his office this morning to check on him.”

“Did he take care of you?”

Eli clears his throat and runs his fingers down my cheek. “He did.”

“Is that where all this came from?” I rub my hand across the bite marks and beard burn on Eli’s neck.

“Yes. I think he needed me as much as I needed him.”

I roll over and tuck my arms under the pillow. Eli lays down and props his chin between my shoulder blades. “I think it’s time, Sweetheart.”

“Time for what?”

“I need to find somewhere to go. I can’t keep doing this to you guys. I went on a massacre that I don’t even remember. What if it was you or Kane that I hurt?”

“You would never hurt us, Blaze.”

“You don’t know that.”

He’s too good for you.

Kane would treat him better.

Let him go.

Eli moves so his whole body is on my back. He slides his hands under the pillow and grabs mine. “Whatever they’re saying, it’s not true. I love you, Blaze. We’ll get through this.”

You aren’t worth the trouble.

Leave him.

Let him go.

I shut my eyes as tight as I can, trying to block out the visions being thrown at me. Kane and Eli laughing. It morphs, and they’re sitting laughing at me, watching me suffer. I move so fast from under Eli and off the bed that he almost falls off. I start pacing, getting more and more agitated by the second. My mind made up, I go to my closet and pull out a suitcase.

“Blaze, what are you doing?” I start shoving anything I can in there, not that I’ll need it for where I’m going. They don’t usually let you have anything that you can strangle yourself with. “Blaze?” I need to do this for Kane and Eli. I can get better, and I’ll be the man they deserve. Not the fucking crazy one who answers the voices in his goddamn head. “Blaze, please stop.” I should have let Eli go when I left him before. He’s much better off without me, and Kane would have swooped in to take care of him. Or I shouldn’t have gone with Kane, to begin with. “Blaze!”

“What?!”

Eli holds up his hands when I whirl around. “What are you doing?”

“Leaving.” I go to the dresser and stuff more into my suitcase.

“What?” Eli says hoarsely.

Before I can answer, Kane busts into my room. “We need to fucking move.”

I nod in agreement. “I was just packing my stuff. You don’t have to give me a ride.”

Kane frowns, but he still has that panicked look on his face. “You aren’t leaving. Somebody raided Diego’s.”

“I can help with that first.”

“They took Jaxon.”

My whole world spins to a stop. “They what?”

“I’ll explain in the car. Eli, I’m leaving several guards here. You’re to stay in lockdown until I say otherwise. Do you understand?”
