Blaze whirls around, and I have to fight not to flinch. I don’t want him ever to think that I’m scared of him. “I’m just in the way here.”

“I promised I’d never leave you. You can’t leave me either.”

“You don’t need me,” Blaze says through gritted teeth. “I’m just a fuck up who will ruin what you guys have.”

“Where is this coming from?”

“They’re back!” Blaze yells so loud that I do flinch. I feel Kane walk up behind me, and Blaze’s eyes turn hard. “Even he thinks I’ll hurt you.”

“I know you wouldn’t,Moya lyubov’. Why don’t we sit down and talk about this?”

“Did you hear me? The voices are back, and they’re loud. I thought Jaxon fixed it.”

“I can’t fix something like that, Blaze. But I can help you deal with it.”

Blaze walks forward, and I automatically walk backward into Kane’s chest. Kane pushes me to the side to block me from Blaze. “I want them to go away.”

“Then let us help you,” Kane says.

“I can’t do this anymore,” Blaze says miserably.

“I know,” Kane says softly. “Come here.”

Blaze shakes his head, tears filling his eyes. “No. I need to do this.”

“Do what?” I ask.

Blaze pulls a gun from his holster and holds it to his temple. When Kane tries to grab him, Blaze’s finger tightens on the trigger. “This will shut them up.”

“Blaze,” I say with a quiver in my voice. I have no idea what to do. I just know that I need to help him. “Please don’t do this.”

“They were so quiet,” Blaze whimpers. “For the first time in weeks, I could breathe, and now they’re so loud. I can’t do it. They said this will work, and I’ll be free.”

“You’ll be dead,” Kane reasons. “You pull that trigger, and you’ll take yourself from me. From us.”

Blaze smiles, but it’s so sad that my heart breaks. “They said I’m saving you.”

“They’re wrong,” I say, stepping to Kane’s side. He puts his arm out to stop me, but I gently push it away. “We won’t be able to live without you, Blaze.”

“You can and you will.”

“Sir. Please.”

“My Boy toy,” Blaze says, and I think I have him. “Take care of Eli for me.”

Kane jumps for Blaze.

And Blaze pulls the trigger.

CHAPTER30

ELIJAH

Irushed home after I got the phone call from Kane that Blaze was missing. Dalton speeds into the driveway, and I’m out of the car before he can open my door. I push into the house and hear a gunshot go off.

I run up the steps toward the sound and find Kane lying on Blaze with Jaxon standing beside them with tears streaming down his face.

“What’s going on?” I ask, slowly walking into the room. Jaxon turns toward me with such sadness that I want to collapse on the floor. “Someone talk to me.”
