“We’ll start small,” Kane reasons. “I don’t like this either, but he’s a danger to himself and you two.”

“I’m not scared of him,” I say.

Kane leans back in the chair like the last two days have aged him a hundred years. I know he’s worried about Blaze, just like the rest of us. But like Kane said, his job is to take care of me and Jaxon, and he can’t do that if Blaze constantly flies off the handle. Jaxon nods his head toward Kane, and I get up from the bed, walk to him, and curl into his lap. Kane holds me close to his chest and kisses my forehead.

Sometimes, we forget even the strongest ones need comfort, too. Kane holds us all together in his own way, and it’s time to show him we have his back just as much as we do Blaze’s.

With any luck, we can finally fix this.

CHAPTER31

BLAZE

Iwake up, struggling to open my eyes. What the hell is wrong with me?

“Blaze.” I turn toward Jaxon’s soft voice. “Open your eyes.”

I finally peel them open, and Jaxon’s smiling softly at me. “Hey, Baby.” I take in his gorgeous face and notice the butterfly stitches on his cheek are gone. “Your face is healing.”

“It is.” He rubs his hand down my cheek, and I can’t help but nuzzle into it. “Do you remember anything?”

“Did something happen?” I try to sit up, and he gently pushes on my chest. I rack my brain trying to think of anything, and all I keep getting is a weird sense of deja vu. “Did I do something bad again?”

“Would you like to take a bath with me? We can talk about it then.” Jaxon slides from the bed when I nod, and I sling my legs over the edge. I feel dizzy and shut my eyes, trying to clear it. “Are you okay?”

“Jaxon. Tell me what’s going on.”

“I promise I will.” He sticks his hand out for me and helps me to my feet. I follow him to the bathroom and notice he’s moving better than he was. He runs the water and beckons me to join him inside when it's full. I undress and sit in front of him.

“What’s going on?”

Jaxon sighs. “If I tell you, you have to agree to listen to me and then go along with the next part of my plan. Okay?”

“Alright.”

“Promise?”

“I promise, Baby.”

“You’ve been sedated for several days,” Jaxon says gently. “You had an episode, and we did what we had to do to keep you safe. Doc said it would be good for you to help your mind rest.” Flashes of what feel like memories attack my brain left and right. Jaxon and Kane making up, the overwhelming sense that I needed to leave, the gun, and Kane diving for me.

“This is why I don’t need to be here.” I go to stand up, and Jaxon pulls me to sit down with a surprising amount of strength.

“You promised, Blaze.”

“That’s before I knew what I was promising. I’ll never promise something that will put you in danger. Any of you.”

“We aren’t in any danger.”

Jaxon grabs the body wash, squirts some onto his hands, scoots so he’s straddling my legs, and starts working it into my skin. I watch his face the whole time, and he looks so relaxed. “I’m supposed to be taking care of you.”

“You don’t always have to take care of everyone, Blaze. Sometimes, you need to let people take care of you.” Jaxon shrugs. “Plus, I like doing it. It makes me feel good, and you’re like really hot.” I laugh at that, and Jaxon’s smile takes my breath away. He continues to wash me off, and when he moves below my waist, my dick stirs to life, something that hasn’t made itself known since Jaxon left. “Stand up,” Jaxon says, sliding from my thighs. I get to my feet, and he finishes his tasks.

Jaxon stands in front of me, turns the shower on, and nudges me back into the spray. He grabs the shampoo and works it into my hair. I find myself getting lost in his touch and his eyes. His betrayal hurt worse than anything I’ve ever felt, but I can see him trying to regain our trust. I truly believe he did what he had to do, and he regrets having to do it.

Jaxon and I finish the rest of the shower before getting dressed and returning to my room. I sit on the side of the bed, and Jaxon sinks to his knees in front of me. Confusion and lust are swirling around when he bows his head, presenting for me. “I’d like you to take me to the club, Sir.”

“I can’t trust myself right now.”
