“I told you, through Chris.”

“I have seen Mr. Roberts sacrifice a lot for Anthony—too much, in my opinion. That is why I find it a bit... odd, that he would hand him over to you.”

“I can be persuasive.”

“I’m sure you can.” He seemed to consider pushing the matter but eventually said, “Well, I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that Anthony ended up belonging to someone else. Some men are born to serve others and be used.”

Anthony felt pain in his leg where Jay was squeezing, likely to keep his anger at bay. Anthony forced himself to stay calm for both their sakes.

“Feel free to go for a walk or a swim in the pool,” Tobias dismissed Jay.

“I’ll do that. But like with Chris, I also want Anthony to stay in one piece.”

“Don’t worry; I’m much better at controlling my urges than my juvenile partner.”

“Good.” Jay rose to his feet. “Catch you guys later. Be good, Ant. I won’t be far.” He picked up his backpack and walked out of the living room.

“Alone at last,” Tobias said with a satisfied sigh. “Do you like this room? A craftsman like you should appreciate it. I planned on inviting you over here, but you decided to be difficult. I had many plans for us.”

“They weren’tmyplans.”

“Yes, of course. Working as a whore is more up your alley these days. But everything happens for a reason—I truly believe that.”

“Okay.”

Tobias watched him closely. “You’re angry, but I don’t believe Jay could have made you come here if there wasn’t at least a part of you who wanted to.”

Since Anthony had no intention of sharing why he was truly here, he remained quiet.

Tobias spread his legs. “Come here.”

Anthony walked over and sank to his knees between Tobias’s legs. At least the carpet was comfortable. Tobias touched Anthony’s cheek, the tip of his fingers warm and a bit rugged. The familiarity of the touch brought no comfort.

“Right here, at my feet—this is your place. I preferred having you by my side, but I’ll settle for this instead.”

“You never wanted me by your side. You just wanted control.” He should not have allowed his feelings to spill out, but his skin felt covered in wounds, and Tobias was skillful at poking them.

Tobias brushed Anthony’s lips with his fingers. “I missed your voice, how deep it is. It makes even the silly things you say sound meaningful. Please don’t force me to prevent you from speaking.”

Anthony debated whether that would be preferable. If he couldn’t speak, he wouldn’t need to think of what to say and whether he should even respond. But not being able to speak also meant not being able to yell for help.

“I almost forgot how manly you are.” Tobias’s fingers traveled between Anthony’s chest hairs, reaching for his nipples and pinching them hard. Against his will, his cock began to stir, a physical reaction that had nothing to do with his emotions.

When Tobias leaned in for a kiss, Anthony almost pushed him back instinctively, but his common sense prevailed. He allowed the tongue to slip into his mouth and had no choice but to kiss back. The taste of red wine filled his mouth, strong and unpleasant. Tobias held Anthony’s head firmly as his mouth devoured him, almost painfully. He had feared kissing Tobias would spark hidden emotions, but the only emotion was disgust.

Footsteps approached. “I see you have him under control.”

Tobias leaned back, his lips glossy. “Was there ever a doubt?”

Dima came to stand behind Anthony, his mere presence unnerving, like being close to a grenade. “Where’s Jay?”

“Walking around.”

“Is it safe? He looks... problematic.”

“I have more urgent things on my mind. Is the room ready?”
