“This time it is.”

“Put it away before someone sees,” Chris said, and Jay slid it back into the backpack.

“Do you have a plan?” Ethan asked hopefully.

“We need to get back in there, and I’ll need to take out Dima. Tobias is defenseless without him.”

“You can’t just go in there and shoot him,” Ethan said.

“I’m not going to shoot anyone, just get him out of the way.”

Ethan crossed his arm. “They must have an alarm, and the wall around the house is massive.”

Jay nodded and looked away, deep in thought.

Chris tried to remember everything he’d seen once they got past the gate, hoping to find a way for them to sneak back inside. When his phone rang, he knew it was likely Melissa. He couldn’t answer and risk her finding out that something was wrong, but he had to at least write her back. When he looked at his phone, it wasn’t Melissa’s number.

“Who is it?” Jay asked.

“Not sure.” His guts told him to pick up the call. “Hello?”

“Are you still in the area?”

Chris said Oscar’s name with his lips, not risking putting him on speaker. “We’re still close by.”

“What’s your plan?”

“I don’t think you’re the asshole I’m going to share our plan with.”

“Manners. A lady should always keep a classy act.”

Chris ground his teeth. “What do you want?”

“As I’m sure you saw, I wasn’t part of Tobias’s plan. He is risking our beloved club for a silly obsession. You and your friends need to get Anthony out of here without attracting unwanted attention.”

“We know that. Any suggestions?”

“Take out Dima.”

At least they were in agreement on that. “How do we get back inside without him noticing?”

“Go behind the house and look for a gate through some plants. It’s a creaky old thing from before the house was renovated. I’ll go outside for a smoke and unlock it for you. Make sure to open it quietly. There’s a security camera aimed at the gate; you’ll spot it because of the small red light. The camera moves to the side every two minutes for around ten seconds before moving back to watch the gate. That will be your opening. If the camera catches any of you moving, Dima will be alerted.”

“And once we’re inside the garden?”

“Use the rose bushes for cover until you can get to the sliding glass door. I'll make sure it’s unlocked as well. Once you’re inside the house, I have no idea where Dima might be.”

The flood of information rushed through Chris’s brain. He mapped every detail like he would with a case. “How do you know all these things?”

Oscar chuckled. “I come from a long line of very paranoid people. Some might call them schizophrenics—hell,Icall them that. That is why I pay attention to things, even if they seem insignificant.”

“When can we try to sneak in?”

“As soon as possible, obviously. I am talking to you now while sitting on the toilet, and I’m not planning on waiting in this damn house all night. Get a move on.”

“Wait. Where does he keep Anthony?”

“In the basement. I have no idea what kind of lock he has there. You’ll find the stairs leading down close to the back of the house. If you manage to get into the basement without being noticed, you should be able to sneak Anthony out through the back gate, but I wouldn’t count on the door being unlocked. Now, let me flush in peace.”
