I still don’t look at her. I keep my focus on Andrew and only Andrew. He watches me, and I don’t mistake the wetness that fills his eyes. He blinks it away, squaring his shoulders and sucking in a breath to puff out his chest in an attempt to be manly.

“Stay with us, Andrew. Live with us,” I offer. “I want you here.”

Claire whimpers and Andrew is unable to hold back the tears. Without another word, he rushes me and wraps his arms around my waist, burying his face in my chest. I hiss at the pain of his face touching my new ink, but it’s worth it. A hug from a teenager, no matter whose fucking kid it is, is something special.

Claire hiccups, and we both turn to look at her. She’s covering her lips with her hands as tears stream down her cheeks. My brows knit together, and I realize I don’t like the sight of her crying, not unless it’s in the bedroom. This feels odd, even though I’m pretty sure they’re happy tears.

“A house, my brother, a whole new life for us?” she finally asks, her voice soft and raspy from her tears.

Andrew takes a step back from me, and I hear his shoes move through the house. He calls out softly that he’s going to find his room, and I take that moment to move quickly toward my wife. It only takes me a few steps until I’m close enough to touch her.

I cup her cheeks. “A whole new life, hummingbird,” I murmur.

“Why?” she asks softly.

“Because I love you, and that kid, he can’t go back to nothing. Where’s he going to go? Foster care?”

Claire shakes her head. “I’m nothing but a repayment for a debt. Why would you take on Andrew, too? And this house, it’s massive. I don’t even have to walk around to know that it’s huge and expensive. Why?”

Her words come out rambled, jumbled. She’s so flustered that it’s cute as fuck.

Dipping my chin, I rest my forehead against hers and close my eyes while inhaling her scent. I’m so fucking close to her, and it feels so fucking amazing that I wish I could be inside of her again. Doesn’t matter that I just fucked her a few moments ago, that I came inside of her. I want to feel her body again.

Instead of lifting my head to look into her eyes, I continue to speak with my forehead against hers. “You stopped being a debt to be repaid about the first time I laid eyes on you in person, hummingbird. I fell for you then, and I keep falling harder each fucking day.”

“Coleman,” she breathes.

“Love you, hummingbird. Your brother is part of you, and he needs us. I want to do this for him, for you. It’s not his fault your parents, Bryson, and Shelby did what they did. He shouldn’t suffer for that.”

“He shouldn’t,” she agrees. “I’ll never be able to repay you.”

I smile. “Fuck me like you love me and bring my dozen babies into this world. That’s all I need.”

“That sounds like a lot,” she says with a laugh.

Instead of answering her, I lift my hands to gently cup her cheeks before tilting my head to the side and slamming my mouth against hers. She’s everything.Everything. I fucking love this woman, and I would move the heavens and the earth for her. No matter how much of a pussy that makes me, I don’t give a fuck.

There is my hummingbird for me, nobody else.

Just her.

Bringing Andrew into our lives, our home, makes her happy, and I think I would do just about anything to make Claire happy. This is no hardship. He’s a good kid, and I know having him here will only help him get a leg up for his future, whatever that may be.

“I love you, Claire. More than anything in this whole-ass fucking world. I love you.”

Epilogue

CLAIRE

TWO WEEKS LATER

A wedding.

Sinking down in my chair beside Andrew, I watch as my husband sits next to his brother up on the stage. He’s beside Wells, and Hendrick is next to him. The bride is on Wells’s other side, radiant in her wedding attire, and her best friend Allison beside her.

Allison.

She was found, and if you were to look at her now, you would never know she had been kidnapped and held for over a week. Nobody would even guess it. She’s stunning, as always, her face and hair perfect, and the smile she has plastered on her face seems as if she’s over the moon for her best friend’s moment, and to be fair, she probably is.
