He hauled me closer, kissing me like he owned my mouth. Like he’d starve without his mouth on mine.

I clung to him, a hot achiness building inside me. My head dropped back, and his teeth raked down my neck. “Colt—”

And just like that, I ruined it.

He froze, then yanked his mouth off my skin. He stepped back, a scowl morphing on his rugged face. “Fuck.”

I swallowed. Not exactly what I was hoping for. “Colt…”

“That shouldn’t have happened.” He took another step back, like I had an infectious disease.

He shoved a hand through his hair. Then he gave me one long, unreadable look, then spun and stomped into his office.

I pressed my hands to my hot cheeks. A bunch of conflicting emotions zoomed around inside me. Want, need, and desire, mixed with some other things I wasn’t quite ready to untangle.

Colt was officially the most gorgeous, confusing man I’d ever met.

“Hello?”

I jolted and turned my head. A young deliveryman stood at the front door.

“Oh, hi.” I slid off the desk and smoothed out my clothes. I hope I didn’t look like I’d just been kissed senseless by my boss.

“Delivery for Macy Underwood.”

“That’s me.” I signed for it, and took the box from him. “Thanks.”

The man left with a salute.

I set the box on my desk and grabbed some scissors. After slicing the tape, I flipped the top of the box open. Then I frowned. There was another box inside. I opened that, and found another smaller box.

With an exasperated huff, opened that one. Then I stilled and my frown deepened. It was empty.

Okay, this was weird. I checked the label. It just had my name and the address of the office on it. There was no sender listed.

Someone was messing with me.

A strange sensation curled through me. The same one I got when I answered the phone and no one spoke.

I set my shoulders back. I’d already dealt with being knocked off my bike and kissed by Colt. An empty box didn’t even make it onto my list of worries.

Shaking my head, I broke down the boxes for recycling. Then I glanced at Colt’s closed door and sighed. I was ready for this day to be over. I just wanted to head home and forget my problems. I decided I deserved take out, a glass of wine, and a bubble bath.

No crazy drivers, no weird deliveries, and no hot bosses who gave you the best kiss ever then told you that it shouldn’t have happened.

COLT

Something was off with Macy.

Maybe the fall off her bike, and then that asshole Rawson, had rattled her.

Or maybe it was because I was a weak asshole and I’d kissed her.

There was no way I’d ever tell her, or anyone, that I’d jacked off last night thinking about that kiss. A fucking kiss had made me shoot all over my own damn gut.

Stop thinking about the kiss.My mouth flattened as I wrestled for some control.
