I’d always been more of a man of action. So instead, I pulled her against my chest, and when she didn’t fight me, a bit of the pressure in my gut eased.

I might not have the words, but I could show Macy that she was safe.

Show her that she was mine.

“Come on.” I took her hand and led her to the stairs.

She frowned. “Where are we going?”

“Somewhere you’ll like.”

Instead of heading down to the bedroom level, I took her up. There was a door at the top and I entered the code into the lock.

When we walked out onto the rooftop of my warehouse, the warm evening wrapped around us. Lights clicked on and Macy gasped.

“Colt. Oh, wow.”

I watched her face as she took in the pool. There were some potted plants that Lola kept alive, and comfy, wide loungers. The pool glowed blue, and beyond it, was a great view of New Orleans.

“It’s a perfect little paradise.” She shot me a smile.

That smile was like a punch to my sternum. There. Finally, a smile. “Want to swim?”

Her eyes widened. “I don’t have a swimsuit.”

“So?” I sat on the end of a pool lounger.

Macy licked her lips and scanned around.

Sure enough, that free spirit of hers took over. She untied the top of her dress. It slithered down her body and pooled at her feet. She stood there in just her underwear and in an instant, my cock was rock hard.

So beautiful. I took in the slim limbs, the golden skin. She shot me a flirty look, then took her time discarding her bra and panties.

She walked into the water, giving me a perfect view of her peach of an ass.

Fuck. Just watching her and I was ready to blow. She swam a few laps, her sexy body on display for me in the water.

Then her head broke the surface, and she stared up at me. “Are you coming in, Mr. Fury?”

I rose and yanked my shirt off. My jeans and boxer shorts were next. I felt her hungry gaze on me as I walked to the steps.

Yes, I could show Macy just how much I wanted her.

And that she was mine.

The water wasn’t cold. I waded in and strode straight to her.

She leaped straight into my arms, wrapping her arms and legs around me.

“You know, a lot of people are intimidated by me.”

She snorted. “You mean scared of your grumpiness.”

“You never have been.”

The muted light of the pool danced over her features, making her look like a fairy. “Because I know you’re all bark, and very little bite.”

I growled, and put my mouth on her neck. I bit her and she laughed, writhing against me.
