I felt sick. “Could your feed have been hacked?”

If Warner hurt her, I’d kill him. I had the means to dispose of a body. No one would ever find him.

“My system can’t be hacked. Colt, I have the guard right here on the other line. She’s fine. She’s at your office with him and perfectly safe.”

My hands clenched on the steering wheel. “You’re sure?”

“Colt, I’m sure.”

I blew out a noisy breath. If Reath was sure, then Macy was fine. “Fuck me. Warner printed out some fucked-up images with Macy’s face on them, left them on my truck. He’s messing with me.”

Reath cursed. “He’s watching you. And he knows the best way to mess with your head.”

“Okay, I’m almost back to the office.” I needed to check with my own two eyes that Macy was okay.

I needed to feel her, touch her, in order for that part of me to settle.

“I’m done waiting for this asshole to slip up. We need to find him. I want him neutralized.”

“We’ll find him,” Reath said.

I parked by the office. As I neared, I saw Macy through the window. She was sitting on top of her desk, folding paper. She was smiling.

Finally, I felt that panicked part of me settle. I pushed open the door.

Her smile got impossibly wider, and she leaped off her desk. “You’re back. You caught him.”

I scooped her up and slammed my mouth down on hers. She made a sound, then dropped the paper in her hands and threw her arms around my neck. I set her on the desk and devoured her. I couldn’t get close enough. I wrapped a hand around her throat, my fingers on the drum of her pulse.

When I lifted my head, she was panting.

“Wow.” She licked her lips. “Give me a second for my brain to start working again.”

I smiled and cupped her jaw. She was like a ray of sunshine. I saw Reath’s guard in the doorway, and nodded at the man. He gave me a chin lift and slipped out quietly.

“I’m so proud of you, big guy.”

Her words arrowed into me. “Another woman got hurt.”

Macy gripped my arms. “She’s alive because of you. And Cullen can’t hurt anyone else. You’re a hero.”

I winced. A label I didn’t want. “I’m just glad you’re okay.”

Macy cocked her head. “You were worried I wasn’t?”

I nodded. “Warner left a note on my Suburban.”

“Ugh.” She dropped her head against my chest.

I decided not to mention the pictures. “He said he had you. And that you were his.”

Her eyes sparked. “Well, he doesn’t have me, and I’m not, and never will be, his.”

“I know.” My fingers tightened on her jaw. “Because you’re mine.”

“Colt,” she whispered.

The front door flung open. Lola, gray hair askew and face panicked, rushed in.
