“Boone.” As she moaned his name, her fingers flexed on his chest. She rocked her hips faster, barely able to breathe.

His big cock filled her so well. She reached down and touched where he was buried inside her. His hand joined hers, stroking, and he found her clit.

Her release hit hard, and she screamed.

“That’s it.” He thrust his hips up. “I need that. Your tight pussy, your orgasm.”

“They’re yours.” Her vision blurred.

Boone surged up and Gemma found herself flat on her back. His powerful thrusts rocked the bed as he powered inside her.

Then he grunted and lodged his cock to the root. She felt his big body shudder as he poured himself inside her.

Perfection.

He rolled them so he was on his back, and she was on top of him.

She snuggled in, riding out the bliss of her post-orgasm goodness. He stroked a hand down her back, and she heard him breathe deep. She realized he was smelling her hair and smiled.

Suddenly, the bedroom door clicked open and Atlas bounded in. The dog jumped on the bed.

Gemma gasped and pulled at the sheets. “We’re naked!”

“He’s a dog. He doesn’t care.”

“I care.” She wrapped the sheet around herself. Atlas flopped against her, and she couldn’t help but smile.

When she looked up, Boone was grinning at her.

God. She wanted to see him smile like that every day. She also wanted naked sexy times every day as well.

Her stomach knotted. Aside from the fact that she was being hunted, she also lived in LA. He lived in Vermont. Alone with his dog, because she realized that he needed that. The simplicity and serenity.

Her finger moved over her hip, touching the bandage Boone had placed over the cut when he’d cut the tracker out this morning. The tracker was gone, but she knew the mercenaries were still out there. Somewhere.

“Boone.” Shep’s voice echoed from the front of the cabin. Next came the rap of a heavy fist on the front door.

Boone leaped out of the bed. “Something’s wrong.” He yanked on his jeans. “Get dressed.” He snatched up a flannel shirt and stalked out of the bedroom.

One minute he’d been a relaxed, sexy man, the next, a focused soldier.

Gemma quickly dressed and hurried out. She found both Shep and Boone looking grim. “What’s happening?”

“We have company.” Shep jerked his head toward the front door. “Follow me. Grab your coats.”

Worry eating at her, Gemma snatched up her coat and slipped it on. Boone stopped her and cupped her jaw.

“Whatever happens, I’ll keep you safe.”

She knew he meant it. He was an honorable, protective man to the core. She realized just how much she trusted him. She trusted very few people to be there for her, no questions asked, one hundred percent.

She took his hand and followed him out. Shep led them over to the barn.

The building wasn’t exactly falling down, but it was old and worn. They went through the open door, and the inside was dark, dusty, and filled with cobwebs.

Shep led them past a rusted old truck and some other gear stacked around. She thought they might be bits of farm equipment, but she wasn’t sure. In the back room, he shoved an old table aside and pushed back some boxes.

There was a trapdoor set in the floor.
