If I lose this kid, Aaron will kill me.

Rushing after him, I push open the door of the café only to come to a stop at the sound of Rebecca’s laughter.

“We missed you the other day for the reading club,” Rebecca says to Gage, who’s already sitting on the barstool next to the counter.

“I missed you too, Miss Becky, but Mom said she was busy and she couldn’t take me.”

Rebecca brushes one wild strand out of Gage’s face. “Are you with her today?”

“No, I’m with my Uncle Miguel!” Gage starts turning around as if he just remembered we came here together, his eyes light up when he spots me standing in the doorway. “Look! He’s here. Did you know he’s a famous football player?”

Rebecca’s head whirls in my direction, her wide eyeslanding on mine, and I swear, it’s like all the air is kicked out of my lungs at the sight of her.

I could still hear her soft moans, feel her warm breath tickling my skin, and her palms skimming over my muscles. Fuck, she was stunning. And last night just confirmed it all over again. There was just something special about Rebecca when she let her walls crumble and allowed people to see her just the way she was.

For a moment, we just stare at one another, neither of us saying a word. Her eyes roam my face before her gaze falls to my mouth. My tongue darts out, sliding over my lower lip, remembering the taste of her on my mouth, reminding me of all the other things I haven’t tasted in a while. Just thinking about it has my dick twitching in need.

As if she can read my mind, color creeps up her cheeks.

“Miss Becky?” Gage nudges her hand.

“Hmm?” With a shake of her head, she looks down at the boy.

“Did you know my uncle plays football for a living?”

She tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear. “Yes, I know that.”

Gage nods his head, a serious expression on his face. “I still think horses are way better.”

Becky chokes on her laughter. “Horses are amazing, Gage.”

“They sure are.” Gage turns to me. “Can I go look at the books in the back?”

“Sure, just don’t run out of the café without me knowing.”

I barely get to finish before he’s jumping off the chair and rushing toward the back.

“This kid will be the death of me,” I mutter, my eyes following his every movement.

“Gage’s a good kid.”

“Yeah, he is.”

Content that he seems to be entertained, at least for the moment, I turn my attention to the woman standing next to me.

Today, her makeup is minimal, her hair twisted in a braid of some sort that’s falling down one shoulder. She’s wearing a plain black tee with the café’s logo on it along with the cutoff shorts, leaving what feels like miles of tanned skin exposed.

I was completely screwed when it came to this woman.

Rebecca notices me staring. Her throat bobs as she swallows. “What are you doing here, Miguel?”

“I wanted to let you know that I found your keys in my SUV last night. I guess they fell down when we…”

Before I can finish, she presses her hand against my mouth.

“Not so loud.”

I look left and right. “There are legit three people in here,” I mumble, my voice coming out muffled from underneath her palm.
