“People in this town like to gossip,” she hisses.

I gently wrap my fingers around her palm, pulling her hand away. “So what? It’s not like it would be the first time.”

“They’re gossiping enough as it is. We don’t need to give them any more ammunition.”

I guess she was right about that one.

Rebecca pulls her hand from my grasp and walks behind the counter. “Where’s my truck?”

I take the chair that Gage was sitting in only moments ago. “I took it to the shop.”

Surprise flashes on her face. “You did what?”

“I took it to the shop.” I shrug. “They’ll call once the truck is fixed.”

I don’t bother pointing out they’ll call me when it’s done. There were some things she didn’t need to know, and this was one of them.

“Oh.” she tucks a strand of her hair back in place. “You didn’t have to do that.”

“I didn’t mind.”

Her teeth graze over her lower lip, drawing my attention to her mouth. The same mouth that I kissed last night, the little moans that came from those lips as I devoured her. The image was so vivid in my mind, and I couldn’t get it out of my head.

“Miguel…” Rebecca sighs.

I look up to find her eyes narrowed at me.

“What?”

“Stop it.”

I flash her my most innocent smile. “I’m not doing anything.”

“You know exactly what you’re doing.” She crosses her arms over her chest. I know she’s going for a scary look that should deter me, but the only thing it does is push her tits up, making me want to bury my head in her cleavage and show her just how much she wants me.

The corner of my mouth tips upward. “And what is that, pray tell?”

“We’re not playing this game.”

“Oh, I don’t think this is a game at all.” Leaning closer, I drop my voice so only she can hear me. “We have to talk about what happened last night.”

Rebecca shakes her head immediately. “There is not—”

“We didn’t use any protection,” I point out, not giving her a chance to finish.

It’s like I dropped a bucket of ice water over her head—her lips part, something that looks a lot like horror flashing on her face.

“It was stupid, I know, and I’m sorry.”

“I…” Her tongue darts out, sliding over her lower lip. “I’m on the pill. And I’m clean, so you’re good.”

Some of the weight that’s been on my shoulders since I realized what had happened last night falls off. But there is something else, something that feels a lot like disappointment.

“Do I have to worry about something?”

Worry about something? My brows pull together as her question registers in my head. “Hell, no. I told you last night…”

Her phone rings before I can finish. She lifts her finger as she picks it up and turns her back to me. “Yeah?”
