“You can kiss me if it doesn’t bother you.” Daniel smirked at the adorkable angel.

Theo grinned as he cradled Daniel’s face, bringing them together for a chaste kiss that, once repeated, deepened into something more. When they parted, each a bit breathless, Theo said, “Thank you.”

Daniel gave Theo another peck on the lips. “You’re welcome. Now let me wash up, then we can cuddle on the couch.”

“Great!” Theo spun and headed off, giving Daniel such a fantastic view of his tattooed back and firm backside all in one six-foot, four-inch tall package that he had to laugh. Theo glanced over his shoulder and winked before disappearing into the kitchen.

Wednesday: Sunrise

Thelial

After both of them downed their glasses of water, they snuggled on the couch, and Theo held Daniel as his mate drifted off to sleep. For hours, he kept Daniel warm, stroking feather-light touches along any skin he could reach. He kept the foul nightmares at bay, shamelessly superimposing pleasant dreams of what the future might hold for the two of them. Daniel’s subconscious ran with the image, and Theo had a hard time not squirming as his cock thickened.

As dawn’s early light kissed the horizon, the front door of Daniel’s apartment creaked and slowly opened. He tensed momentarily, then relaxed as the angel sneaking inside wasn’t someone to fear.

“Sunrise approaches, Thelial,” John said, standing just inside the doorway, wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. With the hood raised, the newestAlufof God’s Army looked like he was up to no good.

“You look like a thug.”

John huffed and pushed back the hood, revealing bright brown eyes and disheveled dark hair. “Take it up withYahweh. I’m just here to collect you.”

Shocked that Father would send someone when Theo could easily take himself home or be brought home, he sat upright. If He sent John, something must be wrong.

Daniel mewled, his sleep disrupted. He wrapped his arms tighter around Theo’s body and mumbled about it being way too early.

Theo gazed adoringly at his handsome mate.

“Hello?” John whisper-shouted. “Time to go, Theo.” He tapped the non-existent watch on his wrist. “You’ve got some training to do.”

“Training?” He jerked his head around to look at John, who scoffed.

“I saw that fight last night. You held your own, but we need to work on some big moves that will help with the next one.”

“There’ll be a next one?” Daniel’s phone pinged from where it sat on the coffee table; “Mr. Troy” lit up big and bold. Theo rubbed his face, frustrated and aggravated. “Of course, there’ll be a next one. The man is greed-personified.”

John rolled his eyes as he leaned against the wall. “He is a demon. Now say goodbye.”

Theo nodded and gently woke Daniel, urging him up so that he could stand. “I’ve got to go, but I’ll be back tonight.” He laid his mate on the couch and covered him with a blanket.

“Promise?” Daniel whispered.

“I promise,” Theo replied, kissing Daniel’s forehead as he tucked the blanket around his mate’s shoulders. “As soon as the sun has set, I’ll be here.”

“Okay. Bye.” Daniel’s eyes closed as he settled back to sleep.

After another lingering gaze at his slumbering mate, Theo joined John at the door. “Do you think this will work?”

“What’s that?”

“Me fighting Troian’s men. Do you think if we can free Daniel from the demon’s grasp that he’ll fall in love with me? It’s all I can offer him. Freedom. I don’t have the skill set you and your brothers have.”

John opened the door to a wall of white which they stepped through into the halls of Heaven. He waited until Theo passed before closing the doorway to Earth. “Is that what you truly think? That you have nothing to offer your other half?”

“No. Yes. Maybe…” he ended, sheepishly. John sighed and walked away, leaving Theo to follow in silence.

Isthatwhat I think? He started his human life nearly two thousand years ago. Back then, he was still a young man learning his way in the world. He had only his conviction and a sense of right to guide him. Of course, Adonai had seen those traits and elevated him to the ranks of angels; he’d carried them through to this modern age. While Judah and his brothers had masqueraded as security officers, Theo, however, had not had such a lofty position in society. His interactions with most humans centered around serving them alcohol and bouncing at dance clubs. A bartender didn’t sound as noble as someone who protected the people.

He could offer a well-mixed drink, for sure, but would that be enough for Daniel to keep him?
