His angel was a couple of inches taller, but neither minded when their lips met in a soft caress. Theo’s hands roamed across Daniel’s shoulders and upper arms, fingers twisted in the short strands of hair on the back of his head. Daniel’s hands weren’t idle, either. He took pleasure in hearing every quiet moan, each plaintive whimper, as he glided his fingertips between Theo’s wings, squeezed the angel’s waist, and dipped lower to palm the pert ass he hoped to get up close and personal with soon.

They swayed to the dulcet tones of a talented musician that Daniel was sure he knew, but he couldn’t be bothered to use any of his available brain cells to remember. His every thought at that moment was completely wrapped around the man in his arms. The angel. One that could be his forever if he believed in love.

There was zero fault in what Theo had said. His parents had loved him. His sister told him she loved him, and he just about melted anytime his niece threw her little arms around his neck and said, “Love you, Uncle Danny.” That an angel of God could and would love him seemed highly likely, but returning that love…?

If he really loved Theo, he wouldn’t let the angel get in that ring where Skull would decimate him. Fuck, regardless of whether or not he loved Theo, Daniel couldn’t let that happen.

An idea slammed into him. An idea so great, yet so fucking scary, he became giddy. It would work. He was sure of it. Thrilled that he had a plan of action, he let all his worries go. He had a gorgeous man in his arms. An angel who wanted Daniel just as much as Daniel wanted him.

Grabbing a fistful of Theo’s hair, he pulled his angel down and kissed him. He jerked Theo forward, pressing their groins together, and a matching thick erection bumped his cock.

“Bed?” Theo whispered against Daniel’s lips.

Daniel growled a throaty affirmative and tugged his angel along by the hand.Yes, yes, yes. With what he had planned, he needed their immediate connection, because if his plan failed… All was lost.

Saturday: Sunrise

Daniel

“This is going to be fun, Danny. Just you wait.”

Daniel’s sister, Debra, always a ball of sunshine, grinned at him, bouncing in her seat. He gripped the steering wheel and nodded at her. “Sure, if you say so.”

She rolled her eyes, then pointed at the car ahead of them as they waited for the red light to turn green. “Mom and Dad said they had a surprise for us later, too.”

“Oh my God,” Daniel groaned. “Their surprises are so outdated. I think Mom looks at us and still sees us as eight and ten, instead of eighteen and twenty.”

“Probably,” she said, clapping her hands with each syllable. “She loves us, though.”

“She does,” Daniel agreed as the light turned green. His parents pulled into the intersection and then a horn blew. Horror unfolded in the blink of an eye. The screech of twisted metal collided with his sister’s scream. Daniel threw the car into park and ran the half block to where his parent’s car rested in a tangled heap. He ran past the dazed, apologizing truck driver, pushing the man out of the way as he shouted, “Mom! Dad!”

He finally reached the smashed car window and fell to his knees. “Theo!”

Daniel bolted upright in bed, gripping his blankets, his heart and head pounding like a freaking freight train rumbling past. “Fuck!” He palmed his face, trying to scrub the fear away.

Deep breaths, Daniel. In, two, three, four, five. Out, two, three, four, five. Just like the therapist said.

Once his heart rate returned to something resembling normal, Daniel glanced around his bedroom. “Theo?” He threw off the blankets, tugged on sweats, and hustled into the living area of his apartment. “Theo?”

He grabbed his phone to check the time and cursed, finding it completely dead. Last night’s revelations, the dance, and the orgasms all rushed back to greet him. Daniel smiled as he plugged in his phone, then went to make a cup of coffee while it charged.

Coffee in hand, he turned his cell on and then frowned as he clicked on the text from Theo.Called home. See you tonight. I love you.

Home.Heaven.If God truly was as forgiving as Theo claimed, if Daniel stayed on the straight and narrow, there would be a place for him in Heaven’s domain in the hopefully distant future. Daniel scoffed at his ridiculousness. He downed his coffee and headed for the bathroom. As he stepped under the hot spray, he reconfirmed his decision, because that future might come sooner than anyone expected, and he had a date with the devil.

Thelial

Theo stalked the corridors of Heaven. His heart lay like a heavy weight in his chest, loaded down with worry. He did not want to be here, but rather back in bed with his mate, snuggled under the covers and hoping to enjoy the delights of each other’s bodies another time.

Without prior thought to where he was going, he was surprised to hear the rush of water falling.

“Come closer, Thelial. Sit with Me a moment.”

Father looked so very young, but as Thelial strode closer, he took on an older visage. His face aged, laugh lines crinkling as he smiled and beckoned. Blond hair became brown, a dusting of salt to heighten his appeal.

“Older men do it for you, huh?”

Theo froze, and Father laughed, becoming even older, more grandfatherly. His wrinkles became more pronounced; his hair turned completely grey.
