Three heads cocked and they all slowly nodded.

“That makes sense.” Alick glanced over at Kenzie. “What if Boyd had said not yet and for them to wait?”

“Oh.” Kenzie sighed and frowned. “Mr. Librarian would’ve been devastated and he’s a very curious human. It just wouldn’t have been nice.”

So it seemed I wasn’t in the doghouse.

“You had to get naked.” Lorne couldn’t move past that part. “I bet that didn’t make him feel little.”

I didn’t know if my glare made me look guilty or if it was something else, but they all started snickering. “I’m just going to say we’re compatible in a lot of ways.”

“We won’t ask.” Alick gave a very well-done glare at Kenzie and Lorne as they started pouting. “We’re going to be understanding.”

Kenzie let out a long sigh. “Yes, because Mr. Librarian is very sweet and we don’t want to upset him…and Boyd might not know his limits yet, so he might not know what he can share and what he can’t.”

That was a very good point.

“Thank you for understanding.” It’d only been our first date. “We’ve got a lot of conversations to still have about limits and things like that. He’s also nervous about his little side, so don’t poke at him too much with questions about being little.”

Three wide-eyed troublemakers stared at me.

“We’d never poke at Mr. Librarian.” Kenzie agreed to that entirely too easily, so I had a feeling the library had been their next stop.

“If you can be nice and give him enough space to get comfortable, I’ll make sure we all have dinner sooner.” I had to sweeten the pot if I wanted them to leave Stefan alone. “Kenzie, didn’t you say that your Daddy liked to grill?”

I couldn’t remember if I’d made that conversation up in my head or not, but it worked to distract Kenzie.

“Oh, we could have a barbecue and I’ll make brownies and we can have hot dogs.” His brain immediately jumped into party planning mode.

“But we won’t plan anything until Boyd says Stefan is ready.” Alick was definitely the only one thinking about it logically. “We want Stefan comfortable with us and not feeling rushed.”

Kenzie and Lorne looked like they wanted to pout but they managed to hold it back. Lorne was even slightly reasonable. “How do we get Mr. Librarian to be comfortable with us?”

Good question.

“You can stop by the library and talk to him.” I pointed one finger at them. “Not about sex and you need to let him bring up the little stuff. He’s very curious, so I don’t think it will take long, but he’s nervous. This is all new to him.”

Kenzie scoffed. “He’s had the right kind of books for months. That’s a long time.”

“But he was figuring out what parts of the books he liked.” Alick shrugged as Kenzie shot him a frustrated look. “You have a lot of different types of books. He doesn’t seem to be a pup but he read about it, so it probably made him think.”

Lorne scrunched up his face. “Yeah, he’s probably got a lot of questions because some books aren’t very real. I read one last week and they thought dragons were all alphas and dramatic.”

Well, the drama part seemed to be true for a lot of them.

“That’s just silly. We’re all so nice.” Kenzie shook his head. “Alright, we’re going to be patient with Mr. Librarian and not push him. We can do it.”

Hopefully.

“Thank you.” I wasn’t sure how long their resolve would last, but I appreciated the thought.

I was just going to have to warn Stefan.

And that meant I needed to make sure they knew I was claiming his lunch hour.

“And thank you for understanding that I’m not cutting this lovely meeting of the nosy friends club short because I’m frustrated. I’m not. But I do have a lunch date with Stefan.” I managed not to frown as they giggled, so I was very proud of myself.

“Mr. Libarian’s got a date with his Daddy.” Lorne seemed to think that was funny and romantic. “Don’t get caught doing something naughty. Make sure to lock the door.”
