“Choke me,” she mumbled and Gavin’s head lifted at the words. “Hands around my throat, gentle pressure.Choke me, Little Rhodes.” He hesitated too long, because Ginny stilled her movements and looked over her shoulder at him. “Please.”

Swallowing hard, he nodded and balanced himself on one arm while wrapping the other hand around her throat. Her movements slowed, every shift of her pussy along his cock sending an electric spark up his spine. Ginny covered his hand with hers, guiding him on what she wanted and Gavin squeezed his fingers against the sides of her throat, her pulse thrumming against his thumb. A low groan fell from her lips and Gavin started to fuck her again. Ginny cried out and when he added a little more pressure to her throat, her pussy fluttered around him.

“Fuck, Nia,” he grunted, the sound of their skin slapping as he fucked her echoing through the room. Sex with her was always phenomenal, but something about that day made his mind completely spin out of control. Her hips rocked back against him and Gavin groaned when her walls clamp around him tight and then she was coming, soaking him as he pumped into her again and again until he was spilling into her as well.

Their bodies shook and twitched as they rode out their orgasms, his chest pressed to her back, as her walls finally released their grip on him. He let go of her throat and Ginny collapsed onto the bed, his cock slipping out of her as she moved. The loss of her wet heat made him groan, but Gavin dropped onto the bed beside her, his chest heaving with every breath he took.

“That was…” she mumbled, still slightly breathless and then laughed as she turned to him. “Thank you for that.”

He laughed breathlessly, flexing his fingers at the memory of what it felt like to hold her throat that way. “I see why you like doing it to me.”

“You did that perfectly.”

“I’ll get better,” Gavin said once his heartbeat had settled. He didn’t bother hiding the smile as he leaned in to kiss her. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” she responded, voice low and breathy, a satisfied smile on her face.

Gavin turned onto his side, one arm sliding around Ginny’s waist so he could pull her against him. Her soft lips pressed against his throat as they held each other, their breaths the only sound in the room. After the first time that she did it, Gavin had done some reading on choking, breath play and other kinks. While he wasn’t interested in most of it—and certainly couldn’t wrap his head around a lot—he was definitely intrigued by what Ginny liked.

“I think we’ve earned ourselves a shower.” Ginny stretched in his arms, her nipples rubbing against his bare chest as she moved. Wriggling out of his arms, she crawled over Gavin and dropped her lips to his for a slow kiss that was all tongue. “You,” she mumbled as she pulled away, nipping at his bottom lip, “check on the girls and come join me.”

He nodded dumbly, stretching up for another kiss, but Ginny was already moving away with a soft laugh. Gavin’s eyes drank in every curve, the way her breasts and stomach bounced, and how her dark hair fluttered against her skin. At the door to his bathroom, Ginny turned to flash him a devastating smile before she stepped out of sight.

Gavin pinched himself lightly, like that would wake him up from this dream. Because even though he knew it was real, there was a part of him that struggled to accept the truth—his first love had been naked in his bedandshe loved him. Smiling, Gavin pulled on his boxers and went to check on Cedar and Copper. The two of them were curled around each other in a patch of fading sunlight. After refilling their water and food bowls, Gavin returned to his bedroom with every intention of worshiping at the altar of Ginny Thomas many more times.

CHAPTER32

MAY

“I know you’ll have a million questions, but if you just called me back when you were supposed to, I wouldn’t have to leave you this voicemail. The man I’ve been seeing the past few months is your father. He came back, just like I told you he would. And we’ve decided to give our relationship another chance. As if I could love anyone else the way I have loved Cyrus, so when he proposed, I said yes! We’re getting remarried next weekend and I would love for you to be there. I’ve left messages for your siblings, but haven’t heard back from them yet. As my favorite child, I hope you can be there when your father and I renew our vows. Love you, chakkare.”

It had beenfive days since that voicemail landed on her phone. When she was at the State Park with Gavin, falling deeper in love with him and avoiding her mother’s calls and texts, Elsa Thomas was busy taking Cyrus back into her life. For a while, she hadn’t told Gavin about the voicemail or how upset she was by this development, but he knew something was off. He spent most of his time in her house, with Cedar in tow, so Gavin was aware that something was bothering her. But he never asked or pushed. Well, he asked once and when she said it was nothing, he let it go.

At first, Ginny believed that telling Gavin would lead to him offering to help kill Cyrus, if that was her plan. But as the days went by and talking to her siblings just amplified the rage, Ginny knew it wasn’t fair to keep Gavin in the dark. So one night after attempting and failing to make yet another meal together, they ordered take out and sat on her back porch as she told him about her plans.

“Remember that day at the park when my mom was calling incessantly and you said it might be something important?” Gavin nodded, one eyebrow arched at her question. “Well, the man she’s beenseeingis Cyrus and now they’re getting married.”

“For real? Like…after everything, she took him back?”

Ginny threw her hands in the air, because clearly Gavin got it. Why didn’t her mother? “She left me this long voicemail about it and the crazy thing is, she sounded happy. Like genuinely fucking happy. Ever since the divorce, thisis what she’s been waiting for.”

“I’m assuming you and your siblings have a plan.”

“Ihave a plan,” she told him, stuffing a sushi roll into her mouth as she waved her chopsticks around. Once she’d swallowed her food, she sighed. “I have to stop her from making the biggest mistake of her life, right? Because this is only going to hurt her and end in disaster. He’s done it once, Cyrus will break her heart again.”

Gavin nodded slowly and then winced as he said, “Let me play devil’s advocate here for a minute. So you go over and try to stop her from marrying Cyrus. Will that change your relationship?”

Groaning at his logic, Ginny shrugged. “Probably. But I’d rather Mom hate me and be whole hearted, than get hurt again by that asshole.”

“She’s going to be hurt by the change in her relationship with you, Nia.”

“Stop being logical,” Ginny whined, stuffing another roll in her mouth. She stared out at her garden that now had string lights thanks to the party with their friends. “If I make her see things the right way, maybe she won’t hate me.”

“Want to practice?”

Shaking her head, Ginny set her food aside and climbed into Gavin’s lap instead. Tucking her face into his neck, she sighed as he rubbed her back. “He left her in pieces, Gavin. And I don’t trust him to not do that again. He’s been gone for nine years and probably had multiple wives and affairs in that time. So why is he back?”
