Breaking the kiss, he whispered, “I was sad that I’d have to wait until Sunday to see you.”

“Missed you too much to stay away.”

Gavin felt giddy at the knowledge that this woman missed him too. “I thought you were busy today.”

“Yup. I was busy planning something for us. You done with your day?”

Gavin narrowed his eyes and glanced at the clock—it was a little after noon—before looking back at Ginny. “I could be…what did you plan?”

“Something something.” She stepped out of reach, brushing a hand through her hair and Gavin let his eyes drag over her body—baggy black joggers, a white v-neck tee and a cropped denim jacket with the sleeves rolled up. “Eyes up here, Little Rhodes.”

“In a minute,” he mumbled, moving his eyes up to her full breasts and then to her face. Gavin cleared his throat, he planted his feet and crossed his arms over his chest. “So, what are we doing?”

“I’m calling it our second chance date.”

“Second chance at what?”

“Us, duh. We’re doing stuff we used to do way back when.”

Gavin smiled, head tilted to the side. “Sneaking around doesn’t sound fun when we’re adults, babe.”

“Well, babe—” she held a hand out and wiggled her fingers “—you’ll just have to hand over your keys and wait to find out then.”

“Why?”

“I’m doing all the driving since I know where we’re going and you’ll be a good boy and sit beside me.”

He arched an eyebrow and Ginny just smiled. Gavin was starting to realize that the reason he might not have noticed her dimples before was because her smiles had been different. They seemed more genuine now, brightening her face with every wide spread of her mouth.

Grabbing his keys off his desk, he handed it to her and watched as she spun on her sneakered feet and walked out of the office. Blowing out a breath, Gavin picked up his jacket and phone and turned out the lights. He was glad that he’d dropped Cedar off at his parents’ place that morning, because whatever Ginny had planned, he had a feeling his dog would not have enjoyed it.

Walking to the main door, he glanced back to find Bronte grinning at the front desk, but instead of saying anything he waved at her and stepped outside. Ginny had already pulled his truck up to the front and she had one arm casually slung over the steering wheel, the other hanging out the window. “You look like all those popular girls in ‘90s teen flicks.”

“Get in loser, we’ve got a date to enjoy.”

Snorting at herMean Girlsreference, Gavin slipped his jacket on and hurried around to the passenger side. Once he was buckled in, Ginny shot off, making him grab the ‘oh shit’ handle above his head. He glanced at her and she was grinning wide, one hand still hanging out the window. If she didn’t look so fucking charming that way, Gavin would have given her so much shit for the way she was driving.

“What prompted this date?”

Ginny shrugged, eyes still on the road, but Gavin couldn’t stop staring at her. Her hair fell in thick, shiny waves over her shoulders. Her white t-shirt hugged her chest perfectly and Gavin knew exactly what her breasts felt like in his hands—he couldn’t wait to experience that again.

“For one, I wanted us to do something fun together,” she said, head turning to him briefly. “And we spent the last twelve years avoiding each other and two whole months being assholes. So I thought that we owed it to ourselves to do it all over.”

Nodding, Gavin smiled and looked out the windshield, hoping he could figure out where they were going. “Ihatethat we wasted so much time being assholes, but I’m glad we’re doing this.”

“And I wanted to be the one to plan our first date,” Ginny added with a smirk.

“Uh, I planned our first date.”

“What, no. This is our first date.”

“Mama Renata’s was our first date,” Gavin countered, eyes narrowed.

“Uh,babe, that wasn’t a date.”

“Nia.”

“Oh.” Gavin’s eyes widened at the shiver that ran through Ginny’s body and when she glanced at him, her cheeks were dusted in pink. “I forgot how hot it is to hear you call me that.”
