“When you’re done admiring my beautiful body, we can go,” Ginny teased, shrugging her jacket on as she smiled at him.

“I’m in awe of how your body got more beautiful in the last twelve years.”

“Thanks.”

This time she blushed and Gavin smiled as he stood up. She carried herself with such confidence and wasn’t ashamed of her body, despite what the world kept telling her, and Gavin had fallen in love with her partly because of that.

Walking out of the restaurant, Gavin thanked Roberto for a fantastic afternoon and caught the keys to his truck when Ginny tossed them to him.

CHAPTER22

Climbing in the truck,Gavin turned it on as Ginny got comfortable. She loosened the tie of her joggers and pushed it under her stomach with a groan. Chuckling softly, Gavin watched her. This very simple act was a sign of trust and he wouldn’t ever take it for granted. He knew that when they were growing up, people said so many mean things about her body and Gavin had seen how it affected Ginny. Sure, she was a tough nut even back then, but sometimes the words got under her skin and she would hide herself. For the most part, Ginny never covered up her body with baggy clothes. There were rare occasions after eating leftovers at the Shack when she’d roll down the waistband of her pants or shorts, to flaunt off her soft stomach.

He’d started seeing that as a sign that she trusted him, that she was okay with Gavin seeing all different sides of her.

“You good?” he asked, smiling at the strip of skin exposed to him. The soft flesh was a few shades lighter than her face and arms, falling over the waistband of her pants.

“I always tell myself to go slow. One bite is all it takes.” Ginny slumped back in the seat and Gavin reached over to rub her stomach. “Oh, that feels good,” she groaned loudly, making him laugh.

“I’m with you on the whole not being able to go slow. It wasso fucking good.”

Ginny nodded, forcing herself to sit up straight with another groan. “Next time, we should bring your parents too.”

“Was already planning on it.” He drummed his fingers against the steering wheel. “All right, where to next?”

“Right!” Pulling her phone out, Ginny tapped the screen a few times as Gavin turned the truck towards the main road. The robotic voice of the Google Maps lady filled the cab of his truck. “Do you want me to direct you or should I let Robot Lady do it?”

“I’d prefer your sultry voice, thanks.”

She blew him a kiss and turned off the audio on the app before giving him a brief rundown of the directions. Gavin nodded and headed onto the freeway. Every so often, Gavin would glance at Ginny, watching as she lifted her feet onto the dash and hummed along with whatever was playing on the radio. He could hear nothing but her voice, he could only smell and feel her too. They’d never had moments like this back in Tybee, but being alone with Ginny had always been his favorite thing to do.

“Eyes on the road, Little Rhodes.”

“It’s difficult when the sexiest human in the world is sitting beside me,” he said with a huff, both hands on the wheel as she directed him to get off at the next exit. “Where on earth are we?”

“You’ll see.”

Gavin followed her instructions and made a turn at Ginny’s request and pulled into a relatively empty parking lot. Gavin made sure to find a spot under a lamp and then glanced at Ginny. She grabbed her things and hopped out of the truck, making Gavin sigh as he followed. With his truck locked, he turned his attention to the building he hadn’t seen when he pulled in—a flickering neon sign read Bonus Points. All of a sudden the familiar sounds of a pinball machine, characters powering up and cars racing came into focus. He blinked a few times to make sure he wasn’t imagining it, and he wasn’t. Right in front of him was an old school arcade, with crappy lighting, the scent of stale food andeverything.

Gavin’s lips curled upward into a smile and he glanced at Ginny. “Seriously?”

Ginny nodded, coming around the truck with a bounce in her step. “Every time I walk past an arcade or see it in a movie, I think of you.” He also noticed that she’d tied up her joggers and straightened them out as well.

She linked their fingers and tugged him towards the entrance, completely unaware of how his heart raced in his chest. It had been one of his favorite ways to spend time with Ginny, because none of their siblings or parents would find them there. And in the arcade, Ginny was his and he was hers. They’d play however many games their tokens would allow and when they became regulars, they got a few extra from the old man at the counter. It became Ginny’s mission to beat him at every game, but the only one she successfully accomplished wasMortal Kombat.

For her to not only take him to a peel and eat restaurant, then to bring him to an arcade said a lot. These were the two ways they coulddateback on Tybee and obviously it had left an impression on her as well. He hadn’t been to an arcade in years, not because of the memories but because he forgot about them, so stepping into one was startling.

Bonus Points was bigger than the one he frequented in Tybee and by the looks of it, there were far more games than he had back then. A few of the machines had ‘out of order’ stickers, some of them had kids at the controllers. At one end, a long glass case filled with prizes served as a counter with bored teens drinking what looked like slushies hovering behind it. The scent of deep fried unhealthy food wrapped around Gavin and it was only when Ginny tugged on his arm that he realized he’d been standing still for too long.

“Too much?”

He shook his head at her tentative tone and smiled. “It’s amazing. I can’t wait to kick your ass all over again.”

“Challenge accepted,” she said, stretching onto her toes to press her soft lips to his cheek.

Gavin released Ginny as she walked over to the counter and had a conversation with one of the bored teens. He let his eyes fully register the games and smiled when he spottedMs. Pac ManandDonkey Kong. When Ginny came back with tokens, Gavin gestured to theMortal Kombatmachine and arched an eyebrow.

“Think this one has Mileena?” she asked.
