Standing, he leaned down and kissed the tip of her nose. Oh how he wanted to kiss more, but that was a start.

“Go get back in the recliner and I’ll bring your food to you.”

Standing, she glanced at him. “I could get used to you taking care of me.”

And that was exactly what he wanted to hear.

CHAPTER10

The next morning, her bladder had her up and moving. While she didn’t want to wake Ryan to cater to her, she really needed a cup of hot coffee to warm her up. Glancing out the window of the bedroom, she saw the snow was still coming down. It had piled up close to four feet and didn’t look like it would be stopping anytime soon.

When she opened the bedroom door, she heard the coffee pot the water bubbling. This morning she’d dressed in a pair of maternity sweats and a large sweater that covered her oversized belly.

She felt like a waddling cow as she hurried toward the smell of coffee.

“Good morning,” he said, looking sleepy, his hair tossed, and wearing a pair of sweatpants that clung to him.

The man was so damn handsome and her heart skipped a beat as she stared at him, remembering the way his muscles had felt beneath her fingers. The night that had gotten her into trouble was the best night of her life.

That night, she’d had so many orgasms, and one of those times, something went wrong with the condom and their little accident was created. Funny, how she was so glad now.

“Good morning,” she said. “Is the coffee ready?”

“Yes,” he said. “What do you like in it?”

“Cream and sugar.”

“How are you feeling this morning?”

“Like a beached whale,” she said. “But no more Braxton Hicks and my feet are not swollen.”

“Good,” he replied as he made her a cup of coffee.

They walked to the kitchen table and sat. Automatically his hand reached out and caressed the back of her hand. Just his touch sent tingles through her. Sex was not out of the question, but he would be so grossed out with her big fat body.

And yet, it had been so long since a man had touched her. So long since she’d been kissed.

“I’m glad you’re here,” he said.

“Even though I’m fat and pregnant?”

“You’re beautiful,” he replied. “You were beautiful when I met you, and now you have that glow pregnant women often get. Honey, you’re perfect.”

Oh, how she wished she believed him. “You’re just being nice,” she said. “I’ve gained forty pounds. The baby only weighs five pounds right now. The rest have settled in my stomach and my ass.”

Shaking his head, his fingers squeezed hers. “No, I’m not being nice. You’re beautiful and you’re carrying my child. You’ll lose the weight once you have the baby.”

“Two weeks from now she should arrive,” she said. “Right after the first of the year, though if I had my way, it would be just as soon as I get to Whitefish.”

“Who lives in Whitefish?” he asked.

“My parents,” she said. “I haven’t told them I’m pregnant. They’re going to be shocked.”

She thought of those early months and how she’d called her mother with the express purpose of telling her, and her mother had been crying. She never told her what upset her, but she wasn’t about to load on more emotional trauma by sayingoh, by the way, I’m expecting and I can’t find the father.

Then in November, her mother had made such an odd request. This year, she wanted them all to come home for Christmas. It was the only reason Amelia had agreed to travel. Otherwise, she would have been at her apartment in Cheyenne. And yet, she wanted her mother by her side when she had this child.

And now she would have Ryan as well.
