“It’s just what you wanted to do, regardless of all logic or voices of reason,” Dolores finishes for me, showing the first signs of life from her tone. She closes the folder in front of her as she finishes writing something in it.

“Yeah. Exactly that,” I confirm, offering her a small smile, but she quickly reverts back to her indifference.

Dolores simply nods, before opening her folder once more. “Right, well, why don’t we move on to the next questions,” she states rhetorically, but all I have in my mind is Leo’s smile and his sparkly green eyes.

Whatever comes out of this, I have no regrets, because I’ve discovered something about myself that I’ve kept hidden for the past few years. It’s like Cody said, I should decide what I want and I should work toward that.

And now, I’m doing exactly that. I was afraid before, but not anymore.

Whatever comes out of this, I know I’ll have Leo by my side the entire time.

Chapter 26

Leo

Theslamofthecar door brings me back to earth. Everything’s been a haze ever since Dolores brought us into her office and told us the news. Even Isa is still in a daze as she gets on the passenger side, both of us just looking at the California sun blazing down the streets of Los Angeles. It’s weird because it both feels like the longest and the quickest day of my life, and I have no idea how to feel right now. It’s just that I’ve spent so much time preparing for this moment, and it’s over just like that. The questions have been asked, and we’ve answered them as best as we could. The notes have been written, the looks have been given, and the verdict has been given.

I look at Isa, and as if she was reading my mind, she looks back at me at almost the same time. “You remember what Dolores said?” I ask, voice hushed because I’m positive this isn’t happening right now.

“Y—Yeah,” Isa replies, quivering at what the immigration agent just said to us.

Dolores had brought us back into the same room. We sat quietly, not quite knowing what to expect. Not knowing what the other said.

She leaned back in her chair, the chair squeaking in protest to the movement.

"Thank you for your time today, Mr. Camden and Ms. Maria. It is my professional opinion that you are indeed in love, in a real relationship, and destined to be married. I wish you the very best in the future. Case closed." We both stood up and wordlessly shook her hand as she left the room and closed the door behind her.

When I looked at Isa, her eyes were filled with tears, and when she blinked, they ran down her beautiful face. I kissed her tears and we walked out of the building into the bright sunshine and our new beginning.

As we sat in the car, we were both shaking. Slowly, but surely, we both burst out into laughter, the sounds of our joy completely filling my car. It’s almost like an endless fit of laughter, like we’ve just been given the biggest present the universe could have given us. Or perhaps, after all is said and done, maybe we’re the butt of the biggest joke in the universe. Either way, this is all too unbelievable and amazing.

We both continue to laugh and hug. It's a new start after such a weird beginning. I don’t even think the version of me from this morning would even believe that this is what happened. Isa’s eyes start to glimmer in tears due to how hysterical we’re both being, and even as I’m still laughing, I begin to drive away from the immigration office of Los Angeles.

"Let's go back to my place," Isa suggests.

Soon, I find myself back at Isa’s apartment, with her writhing underneath me as I thrust into her absolutely sexy body over and over, our sounds of laughter now converted into sounds of pleasure. I don’t even quite remember how we got here. One minute we were walking into her apartment and she was offering me a drink while still being amused by the situation, and the next minute I was carrying her to her bedroom and ravenously stripping her naked.

Who the hell cares who hears us? The way she says my name with her eyes closed while allowing me to pleasure her makes me even more insatiable. The way she wraps around me drives me to insanity, and I come back for more with every single drive into her body. She fits me like a glove and I can imagine treasuring this feeling forever.

She pulls me toward her and then rolls me over on my back. I didn't realize she was so nimble, but I'm liking this ninja Isa. She interlaces her fingers in mine and starts to move her hips, riding me like I'm the last ride out of town. Her wetness slides over me as she arches her back while both of us get driven to the edge and our bodies experience wave after wave of pure glory.

After she collapses on me, I tuck her close to my side, spending a few long moments just soaking in the feel of Isa’s skin next to mine.

“Marry me, Isa. Be my only one,” I whisper into the quiet, dimly lit room. The only indication Isa even heard my declaration is her soft gasp. I’m nervous as the silence stretches between us.

“No minced words." She winks at me, remembering our conversation in Manila. "Yes, I’ll marry you, Leo,” she finally whispers back as she gently kisses me. Although her voice is low, it's confident and full of conviction. I run my fingers of one hand through her hair, taking a deep inhale of her sweet scent and pulling her toward me.

“I love you, Isa.”

“I love you, too.”

Isa props herself up on one elbow, kissing my lips deeply and we lose ourselves in each other again. It’s different this time, as I feel all the missing pieces in my life falling into place.

I have Isa and that’s all that matters.

And with that, it’s safe to say that this is a fitting celebration after the immigration office approved of our desire to marry, but I guess we consummated it a little early.

A few days later…
