Although part of her was a bit relieved. Because he’d been acting a kind of strange the last few days. But this was pure Raid.
“I wasn’t arguing,” she said. “I don’t argue. I’m actually very easygoing and I get along with everyone.”
He gave her a look of disbelief.
“I am! In high school, I was given the citizenship award. Because I always get on with everyone and never make waves.”
“Yeah? When am I going to get to meet that Hannah?”
“Rude,” she muttered.
“You’re going to let me do this. And you’re going to listen to me when it comes to your protection, got it?”
Since she really didn’t want to be attacked again, then yes.
“Yes.”
“I’m sorry, baby.” He ran his hand over her head.
“Why are you sorry?” She couldn’t think of a single reason he should be. If anything, she should apologize for turning his life upside down. Another thought occurred to her. “We can’t go to the ranch!”
“Why not?”
“Because of your family! It could put them in danger.”
He snorted. “You think my family can’t go up against some asshole and annihilate him? Baby, this is what we live for.”

“Alec has kids now. West has one on the way.” Beau and Maddox didn’t live on the ranch, but they were still close by. “I can’t put kids in danger.”
His face hardened. “They won’t be. I’d never put my nephews or my brothers’ women in danger.”
