“Are you ten?”

She laughed. “Yes, I am still that ten-year-old who used to build a snowman whenever we had snow in Oklahoma.”

They often had snow in her little town and she remembered building snowmen, making ice cream, and having snowball fights with her brothers and sisters. Her parents still lived there, though she had not been home to see them in four months.

Her family was normal and she loved them, but they all had busy lives. Her mother was a nurse in Oklahoma City and she’d told Hannah for years to become a doctor.

Thankfully, Hannah had followed her advice and she loved working in the ER. The fast-paced environment made the time pass quickly. And the cases she saw were often diverse, tragic, and often deadly.

“I’m naked and I’m going to get in the shower,” she said laughing. “I’m going to wash my body and I’ll be clean.”

He opened one eye. “Damn, woman, you know how to tempt a man. Why did I not know about this side of you?”

She grinned and then swung her hips as she walked to the bathroom. He hadn’t known because he didn’t want to realize how it could be between them.

A few minutes later, she turned on the shower.

“Anyone in here need some help scrubbing?”

This was the Noah she loved. The playful fun guy, not the serious doctor.

“Oh, I think my back needs to be washed,” she said.

Picking up the washcloth, he started to work on her back and she leaned back against him.

Turning her head, she kissed him, her mouth covering his. When they broke apart, she sighed. “I really enjoyed last night.”

“Me too,” he said. “But this morning, we need to eat a good meal. And then someone I know wants to play in the snow.”

She laughed. “I wonder if the hotel has an area where we can go or if there is a park nearby.”

Taking the rag from him, she soaped it up and then washed him down from the back. When he turned around, she could see he was hard for her again.

“Doctor Baker, you seem to have this growth extruding from between your legs. Let me examine that and then we’ll need to consider surgery,” she teased.

He pulled her up against him and he kissed her hard on the lips. “I need food before we can do this again.”

“Thank God,” she said. “I feared I would faint from hunger.”

Stepping out of the shower, she left him alone as she quickly toweled off and went in search of the clothes. If they were going out, she wanted to dress as warmly as possible.

A few minutes later, she heard the hair dryer blowing and knew he was almost ready. Years ago, she’d given up wearing makeup. It was always a concern in the operating room, so she only wore it on special occasions. Today felt like one of those times and she quickly put on a little concealer and powder.

When he walked out of the bathroom, she was ready to go.

“Let’s go eat,” he said.

“Yes,” she replied.

They walked out of the honeymoon suite and an older couple was waiting at the elevator.

“Congratulations, you two,” they said. “We’ve been married for forty years.”

“No, you’re the ones who we should be congratulating,” Noah said. “We’re just getting started.”

Hannah’s heart leaped in her chest. Did he really mean that or was he just playing along? This was exactly what she wanted. And in forty years, she wanted to be telling another young couple about how long they’d been married.

The elevator arrived and they stepped on. “Can you believe this weather?”
