Ten minutes later, Amelia screamed and pressed down once again.

“I see the crown,” Ryan said. “Come on, honey, you’re doing great. You’re going to be a super mom.”

“Easy for you to say, you haven’t pushed two bowling balls out of your vagina,” she said breathing heavily.

“Come on, one more push,” he cried.

Noah watched as his sister gave birth again. This time they were happy to see a boy come out screaming. He was not happy about having to leave that warm, safe cocoon.

“A little boy,” Ryan whispered and Noah cut the umbilical cord. The baby screamed as it lost its connection with his mother.

Noah moved Ryan out of the way. “You delivered the babies. Now let me take care of the afterbirth. Go be with your wife and babies.”

He nodded to Hannah and the two of them pushed her stomach. In a matter of minutes, Noah delivered the afterbirth and then Hannah cleaned her up, removed the towels, and placed a fresh one beneath her.

Then they opened the door for the family to see the babies. Her mother had been inside the room the entire time and was holding baby number one. Ryan was holding tightly to baby number two.

Noah and Hannah stepped out of the bedroom.

“Good job, Doctor,” she said.

“I want what they have,” he said gazing at her. “Seeing those babies made me want to have children. Babies with you.”

She grinned up at him and kissed him on the lips. “Me too.”

The doorbell rang and she hurried to let the paramedics in.

Noah could hear her in the front of the house and his heart melted.

“Merry Christmas,” she said. “We just delivered twins.”

“Twins?”

The men laughed and then they were standing in the hall. “Are you ready to go to the hospital?”

Amelia smiled at them. “Give me just a moment.”

She glanced at Noah. “Thank you, Noah and Hannah, for helping Ryan bring our babies into the world. It means so much to us. I’m so glad you’re a part of our family. And Olivia and Emily, I’m so glad you’re my sisters. We just started a new generation. These babies are going to need cousins. So get started.”

They all hugged and laughed and Noah couldn’t remember a happier Christmas.

As the paramedics loaded Amelia onto the stretcher, they put one baby in her arm and another in Ryan’s.

“We’ll meet you at the hospital,” Noah said as he watched them take away his sister along with his niece and nephew.

His mother stood in the hall crying. He wrapped his arms around her.

“Merry Christmas, Mom. This has been the best Christmas ever.”

She hugged him tightly. “Thank you, son. I’m so glad you and Hannah were here. Now let’s get going; we need to be at the hospital.”

A grin spread across his face and he gazed at Hannah. “Soon. Let’s have a baby soon.”

She blew him a kiss. “I love you.”

“I love you,” he said as he took her hand and they walked toward the door.
