She sat back, the sheet tucked under her arms, her hair adorably mussed and standing up in places it normally didn’t. He smirked and sipped his coffee, wanting to give her the time she needed to wake up, but he was just so excited to start the day.

After breakfast, they drove to her place for warmer clothes and her boots, then headed to the fourth floor at Kinkaide & Associates. It was only nine, so they had a couple of hours to do a few things. They talked about how the floor should be laid out and started moving some things around.

Gray stopped sweeping and looked at the back corner of the floor. Sam stopped and watched him, deep in thought.

Gray turned and smiled. “Youknow… with a glass wall around the front, it would be a nice second studio for me to do some drawing. That way, I can work when I need to and still be with you, so you won’t be alone.”

“That sounds like a great idea,” Sam said, clapping her hands together.

“I have some catalogs for the glass walls downstairs. Let’s grab them before we head out today and we can look at them tonight.”

“That sounds awesome. I can already see it in my mind.”

They took a motorcycle ride along the lakeshore, only about a hundred miles, but the feeling of her sitting on the back of his bike, her arms around his waist, was also imprinted on his brain.

Once they returned to his house, they made a nice dinner together, then relaxed on the sofa afterward.

“Tomorrow is dinner at my parents’ house.”

She softly replied, “I know.” Inhaling deeply, she continued, “I’m so nervous about that. Are you sure there isn’t a better time for me to meet everyone?”

“Nope. Don’t worry, you’re going to love them, and they’re going to love you.”

About one in the morning, Gray woke up thinking about Sam. This little woman had completely turned him inside out. Not in a bad way, but his whole thought process seemed to be consumed with just her—the way she looked, the way she moved, and the way her eyes crinkled when she smiled. And that smile. When she smiled at him, his heart raced, and he became weak in the knees. She wrapped around him so perfectly when he hugged her, kissed her, and made love to her. He’d never thought an orgasm could be any different at any given time in his life. They were simply that finale from the act of sex. But something was different with Sam, something profound and wonderful. That was the most confusing thing of all. Gray hadalwaysenjoyed sex. What man didn’t? But sex with Sam was a whole new experience.

He pulled her into his arms and kissed the top of her head as he inhaled her scent and drifted off to sleep.

Arriving home just before ten in the morning, Sam entered the house and felt like a foreigner there. It had been a few days since she’d been here and already it felt like she didn’t live here anymore. She’d lived here for so many years, through some of the hardest times in her life, and yet, it didn’t feel like she’d ever lived here now. She looked around and sighed. She changed clothes, gathered mail and made sure everything was in order before leaving for Gray’s parents’. Her stomach rolled, and she placed a hand over it waiting for the queasiness to pass.

They arrived at the Kinkaide house at eleven-forty—a little early, but Sam didn’t want to be late. Arriving late would only draw more attention to her. Being there first meant she’d be able to meet Gray’s parents first and then each family member as they arrived—not everyone at once. Gray said everyone was supposed to be there around noon, but usually, no one was on time and dinner wasn't served until after twelve-thirty, so that gave them time.

Harry and Mary lived on the outskirts of Harmony Lake, on a small farm. They had twenty acres and a couple of outbuildings. Gray’s mom loved to garden and had the most beautiful perennials, which were starting to show themselves from the earth.

“Ready?” He chuckled.

She nodded and exhaled. Gray got out of the vehicle, and as she watched him walk around to open her door, she took a deep breath. He reached in, took her hand, and helped her from the SUV. He held her hand all the way to his parents’ door.

When Gray and Sam walked in, Harry and Mary both smiled. Gray pulled Sam to his mom first and gave her a big hug; then he stepped aside for introductions. Harry sat at the counter with a cup of coffee and Mary worked on the other side on a vegetable dish. It smelled delicious, and it looked like Mary had been cooking for a while.

“Mom, this is Sam. Sam this is my mom, the best cook in the county!”

She chuckled and grabbed Sam in a big bear hug. “We are so excited to meet you, Sam. Welcome.”

“Thank you for inviting me, and it's very nice to meet you.”

She patted Sam’s shoulder and nodded her head.

Gray pulled Sam around the counter to meet his dad. He gave his dad a big hug while she enjoyed the similarities in them. Gray looked like his dad, even more so than in the pictures she’d seen at his house. Harry was a couple of inches shorter, but their shoulders were the same size, and their facial features were similar. This is what Gray would look like when he was in his seventies—very nice. Harry still had those deep brown eyes that he’d passed onto his son, and his hair, while gray, still had quite a bit of dark in it as well.

As soon as Gray pulled away, he grabbed Sam’s hand and pulled her forward.

“Dad, this is Sam. Sam, my dad, Harry.”

Harry pulled her in for a hug, though thankfully not as hard as he and Gray had thumped on each other. She hugged him back, and he whispered in her ear.

“We’ve been dying to meet you, Sam. Jax and Gray have told us so much about you.”
