Gray, are you absolutely positive you don’t have feelings for her? If there is even a little bit there, please tell me now rather than later.

She didn’t want to drive him crazy, but seriously, he did go to lunch with her. He didn’t have to. So, he must have wanted to see her too.

Subject: Never been more sure in my life

Don’t be scared, and I’m so sure. Actually, seeing her made it even clearer in my head, not that it wasn’t before. She doesn’t hold a candle to you, in any way. I wasn’t lying when I told you I don’t have feelings for her. But I do have feelings for you. Have I told you today that I love you?

Okay. I won’t be late.

She decided to stop playing games and start cracking at her work. So, she turned away from her computer and dove in to get this day over with.

Pulling into the driveway around five-seventeen, she opened the garage door and parked alongside Gray’s SUV. She could smell something delicious all the way out in the garage. He must have been home for a while. When she stepped into the kitchen, he was at the stove stirring something that smelled heavenly. He looked at her as she walked in.

“Hi, glad you’re home. Glass of wine?”

She nodded and walked over to the stove to see what he was cooking. He put his arm around her and kissed the top of her head.

“I’ve wanted to make this for a while now. I saw the recipe one day on the Internet and thought tonight would be a perfect time to try it out. Parmesan chicken breast, carrots and Brussel sprouts fried in garlic olive oil and double chocolate cake for dessert. I bought the cake. Baking is something I haven’t tried my hand at.”

Sam looked up at him. “It smells delicious.”

Gray turned from the stove and poured her a glass of Late Harvest Riesling from the Von Stiehl Winery. He poured himself one, too. They clinked glasses, and each of them took a drink. Delicious.

She walked to the bedroom to put her purse in the closet and take off her shoes. Dressing in yoga pants and a tank top she walked over to look out the windows in the bump-out. The flowers were starting to peek their heads out and she could see the view was going to be breathtaking when everything was in bloom. She was watching a cardinal playing around in the trees when strong arms came around her and hugged her from behind.

He squeezed her to him and hunched over to rest his chin on the top of her head—without heels on, she was quite a bit shorter than he.
