He hugged the little woman who’d stolen his heart and ignored Amanda who now had a scowl on her face.

“To what do I owe this wonderful pleasure?”

Eventually, Amanda left the office though neither he nor Sam noticed her.

Sam told him about the shopping, lunch, and the manis and pedis. She sat on the edge of his desk and showed him her toes peeking from her sandals. She had them painted in a French manicure to match her fingernails. The nail tech painted tiny little sage colored flowers on her big toes and a couple on her fingernails to set off her dress. She excitedly told him about the dress she’d found, and he had a hard time looking away from her happy face.

“Sam, I have no doubt you’ll look stunning for the wedding inanydress; I can’t wait to see you in it. But don’t be offended if I can’t wait to take it off you!”

She laughed. “What were you reading that looked like it pained you?”

He grabbed the document he’d been reading and handed it to her. “We’re trying to do employee reviews, and someone found this review form online, which I don’t think is relevant to what we need here. I just hate dealing with this stuff.”

She moved from the edge of the desk and sat in his chair in front of his computer and patted the desk next to her with a grin on her face. “Let me help you. My bachelor’s degree is in HR management. This is easy.”

“You tell me what you want to evaluate your employees on, and I’ll help you create a new review form. But, I need you to sit next to me to keep me motivated.”

She smiled and winked, and he thought he was the luckiest man on earth. He sat on the desk next to her. Watching her tap away on the keys, he leaned down close to her and licked the shell of her ear, then kissed the side of her face before he started down her neck.

“I don’t think this is what I need to be motivated in, but I love your train of thought.”

He laughed. “Okay, I’ll behave for about ten minutes.”

They worked for about an hour getting the form to look like something he was happy with.

“Sam, I’m so happy you came when you did. I never would have been able to get this done on my own. You should come and work here with me. You could help me run the business, so I can concentrate on being the creative geek.”

“The thought sounds good, but if we broke up again, I would not only lose my boyfriend, I would lose my job.”

“Ouch. I thought we’d gotten past the bad stuff.”

She stood and wrapped her arms around his neck. “I love you, but let’s give it a little more time. We’ve moved so fast—I don’t want to jump from the frying pan into the fire.”

Reluctantly, he agreed to let it rest—for a while. He kissed her in earnest this time; losing himself in her was his new favorite thing.

Getting ready for the wedding, he walked into the bathroom to see if she was almost ready and stopped in his tracks in the doorway.

“Wow, Sam. You continue to take my breath away. You look beautiful.”

She grinned at him. “Thanks, baby. You look very sexy.”

He smirked. “Turn around and let me see the back.”

She turned, and he whistled. The sage green sheath dress had an underskirt that extended beyond the short sequined portion of the dress to about an inch above her knee. The underskirt had a smattering of sequins on it here and there, just for effect. The top of the dress fit right below her neck—no cleavage showed—and at the shoulders, the dress was about an inch and a half wide. The back was bare to the bottom portion of her back and from shoulder to shoulder was a thin drape of the sequined material that plunged down to the top of her butt and swayed when she moved. She paired the dress with a pair of strappy, high-heeled sandals in the same color as the dress. When she moved, she shimmered and sparkled.

He walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her. “You’re so beautiful. Do you know what I like best about this dress?”

She kissed him lightly and smiled. “What do you like best?”

He rubbed his hands up and down her bare back. “I can touch your skin anytime I want to—which will be all night.”

Sam laughed. “That might be my favorite thing, too.”

They arrived at the church around four-thirty for the evening wedding. Candles flickered all over the church, and the altar was stunning in the twinkling glow. His sister and her husband, Dani and Nick, were already there. Since his dad still tired easily and wasn’t up to outings, his mom came with Dani.

They were sitting in a pew when he and Sam walked in. His mom had saved them a seat, so before sitting down, they were greeted with hugs. They sat at the far side of the pew on the outside. He wrapped his arm around the back of the pew and Sam’s shoulders. They chatted with his family when Ethan, Eva, and Jax walked in. Jamie and his kids came in next and sat behind Gray and Sam. Finally, Dani and Nick’s kids came in and sat behind them in the pew with Jamie and his family. The music quieted, and the ushers walked the mothers to the front of the church. The bridesmaids were next.
