He stood and stalked into the kitchen. She followed him, her brows furrowed. “What do you mean by that?” she pleaded.

He turned around to face her. “I assumed you would move in with me. Why won’t you do that?”

She shrugged. “We haven’t talked about it. I didn’t want to assume.”

He took a couple of steps away from her. “How can you not know? What the fuck, Sam? We talked about getting married.”

“Hey!” she yelled. “Just a damn minute!”

He stopped his eyes round in surprise. He stepped toward her and she pointed to one of the upholstered kitchen chairs. He sat down, a frown marring his handsome face. She kneeled in front of him and took his hands in hers. Looking into his sad brown eyes, she took a deep breath.

“Hey, I didn’t say I wouldn’t move in with you. I said I didn’t want to assume. I had no idea that you wanted that, Gray. We haven’t had that conversation. You said you wanted to get married, but that was a couple of weeks ago, and we haven’t discussed it since. I thought you were just caught up in the moment of the wedding.” Thoughts fleeted through her mind, the house sold, marriage, condos, moving, and now this.

He leaned forward and put his elbows on his knees, cupping her face. “Sam, I’ve thought of you living in my house since the day I met you. You belong there with me; it feels natural with you there. I thought you felt the same way.”

He smiled, and she thought he’d melt her panties right off the way he looked at her. “I want you to live with me, Sam. Move in with me.”

Her eyes welled with tears. “Yes, I’ll move in with you. I had no idea where you were at, Gray. You haven’t said anything more after the wedding, and I thought maybe you regretted bringing it up.”

He kissed her and whispered, “I just assumed you felt the same way. I didn’t think we needed to have a conversation about moving in. As far as discussing getting married, I wanted to surprise you and make it perfect!”

She laughed. “Well, we’re getting better at communicating, but I guess we still have a little work to do. For the record, it does feel natural being at your house, and Idofeel the same way. I was just afraid to assume.”

Mary spoke first from behind them. Gray’s family had all crowded around the kitchen door to listen. “It looks like we have something to celebrate. Let’s all get a refill on our drinks and make a toast.”

As she realized the whole family had heard everything, her face flamed a nice bright red and Gray chuckled. He softly brushed her cheeks with his fingers, then kissed her gently.

“They know how I feel about you already, Sam. No need to be embarrassed.”

Once all the drinks were refilled, Harry made a toast to Gray and Sam moving in together. They didn’t discuss marriage.

Sam spoke first. “I hope you all know we’re going to need a lot of help moving things out of my house, so everyone better be ready, willing, and able.”

Jax spoke up. “Well, I think I’m kind of busy that day.”

A few chuckles were heard, and Ethan laughed. “You don’t even know what day, so don’t even start, Jax. Besides, I have to be on the road for a while, so I can’t be around.”

Sarah smacked both on the shoulders. “You’ll both be available, and you’ll both help out.”

“Sam, let’s have your kids over next Sunday so everyone can meet, shall we?” Mary asked.

She nodded. “I think that sounds fabulous.”

A couple hours later Sheila was at Gray’s, and they sat at the kitchen table discussing the offer to buy Sam’s house. Sam signed the offer, and Sheila congratulated her and said she would be in touch to set up the inspection.

Gray hugged her tight. “I’m so happy for you, Sam, and for me as well. This is what I’ve been waiting for all my life. To share my life with someone I love. I can’t wait to have you officially here with me for good.”

She hugged him back. “I’m excited as well. You know we have a lot of work to do before that can happen, right? Like what am I going to do with all of my furniture and what are we keeping and throwing away and my garage is full!”

She took a deep breath; she didn’t want to overwhelm herself thinking about it all, but four weeks wasn’t far away and the time would fly by. They’d learnedthatworking on the fourth floor.

Gray held her tight. “Don’t stress, babe. We’ll work it all out. We should start by getting all of your clothes and necessities moved intoourhouse first. Then, you should go through and decide what you want to keep. We’ll decide together where to put it and what we need to get rid of from here to make room. Call your kids and ask them if there are things they want. There must be some of Tim’s things you still have that they may want. Then we’ll deal with everything else.”

He made it sound easy broken down into smaller pieces.

Gray kissed her deeply, exploring her mouth, nibbling her lips. She’d never get tired of his kisses. His hand slid down her back and pulled her into him. Their bodies pressed tightly together; she felt whole. Her hands glided up his back and rubbed his shoulders. She was a bit shorter than he was, so she couldn’t reach his hair with her arms under his arms, but she ran her hands up and down his back, touching him everywhere she could. His heat seeped into her—the firm planes and valleys his muscles created were sexy.

He kissed her softly, but her lips tingled when his lips sought her neck. He reached into her shirt and gently pulled out a breast, licked it and sucked it until her nipple became a hard peak. He lifted his head again and kissed his way back up her jaw to her lips.
