She stood and pulled a T-shirt over her head. Sliding her arms through the sleeves, she glanced at him.

“Are you going to answer me?” he asked a bit impatiently.

“You know I’ve been frustrated with things at the office lately. And, I think I’d enjoy working with you. It sounds like a great idea, Gray; I’d like that.”

The joy that just filled his heart threatened to burst it. “We’re going to be a great team, you’ll see! Now, call Bill and give your notice.”

She scrunched her face. “I should do that in person, don’t you think? Over the phone seems disrespectful.”

“Fine, then we’ll have Tank take us to your office this morning right after breakfast, and you can tell him in person. You’re not going to the office without Tank and me.”

Her lips tightened, but she nodded her head.

They showered and dressed for the day. Gray called Tank while she finished applying her makeup and decided to have breakfast brought to the room. Tank would join them so they could discuss what transpired overnight and what the game plan was for today. Gray hung up with him when Sam walked out of the bathroom.

He looked at her and smiled. “You look beautiful, as usual.”

She walked to him and bent down to kiss him. “So, what’s the game plan?”

“Until Tank gets here with breakfast …” He grabbed her hips and pulled her onto his lap. “We can make out.”

He cupped her breast making her laugh. “You’re insatiable. I don’t know if I’m going to make it.”

Leaning back to look at her, he responded. “Okay, so let’s talk about your new job. We’re going to need to set up an office for you. How do you want that to work? Any ideas?”

She pursed her lips. “To be honest with you, I’m not sure. Do you think we can go to the office with Tank after I talk to Bill and take a look around? The plan before was to move your offices to the second floor. Do you still want to do that? And what will I be doing?”

He chuckled. “Yes, we need to move the offices. The demolition company is bursting at the seams. If we’re on the second floor, the first floor can be rented out for retail space or other offices like you’d mentioned. So, why don’t we look at how fast we can make that work? As far as what you’ll be doing, we’ll start you learning about the business and becoming familiar with our clients. Then, once you’re comfortable with that, you can take on more of the business responsibilities.”

“Okay. Now my head is spinning with all that needs to be done, so what do you think about being able to go to the fourth floor today to work on some of the pieces that we’ll use in the second-floor offices?”

“We‘ll talk to Tank about it when he gets here.”

They heard a knock on the door. “Speaking of …” Gray walked to the door—nice view as far as she was concerned. He looked through the peephole, opened the door, and let Tank in.

Tank carried in breakfast, and it smelled great. There were warm croissants, a variety of jams, bacon, fresh fruit cups, blueberry muffins, cream cheese coffee cake and butter, coffee, water, and tea.

“I wasn’t sure what you liked, so I got a variety. Hope it’ll be okay.”

She grinned. “It looks great, Tank. Thank you.”

Gray nodded. “This will be great. Thanks.”

They spread the food out on the table in the room, and her stomach growled. Gray grinned, and she grabbed a piece of the coffee cake and took a large bite.

Gray told Tank, “We want to go to Sam’s office first and then over to my office. We have a fourth floor we’re using to refinish old furniture, and some of that will need to be used for the new offices on the second floor. Do you think we can go there and work if we stay on one floor?”

Tank thought for a moment. “Those are viable options for today. The security system will be installed in your house by this afternoon, so the timing would be great.”

“Wow, I thought David said two days?” Sam replied.

“He called in some part-timers to help out with other tasks so we could get it installed sooner. You must be important.”

Gray laughed and oh the sight. He was a handsome man on any given day, but when he was happy he was downright sexy.

“No, not any more important than anyone else. David and I have just been friends for a long time.” He winked at her, and her heart fluttered. He still did that to her.
