Dani piped up, “Gray is going to LOVE that dress!”

She had to agree; it was exactly what Gray would love. She remembered the open-back dress she’d worn to the Kinkaide wedding, where Gray had mentioned getting married for the first time. He loved that dress on her—partly because he could touch her bare back.

She was staring at it in the mirror when the other girls walked in to peek at it.

“Oh. My. God. That’s the one. That’s perfect.” Sarah looked at her in awe. “My dad is going to love that one!”

The other girls talked at the same time, but the comments were the same. She had found her dress!

The seamstress came in to measure her, as the hem needed to be taken up and a little in at the waist, but she assured Sam that it would be ready for Friday afternoon. There was a little tweaking to do on Jessie’s dress as well, and Mary needed hers hemmed, but that was it. Overall, it was a successful shopping trip. They decided to head over to the shoe store in town to see if they could find shoes to wear. She could wear the shoes she wore to the Downtown Harmony event. After all, she only had them on for a couple of hours, and they were the perfect shade of her dress. The other girls needed shoes, though, so they headed to the store.

She was now ready to take a nap. Something told her it was going to be a long night with the girls over for their slumber party. The clock said three-thirty, and everyone was due at her house around seven. She and Mary hugged everyone goodbye and climbed in the SUV driven by Shauna. They were drained.

“I don’t know about you, but when we get home, I’m gonna need a nap,” Mary stated. She laughed—great minds.

The rest of the ride was in silence; the peacefulness felt amazing.

When they got to the house, it was quiet. Shane and Nancy were in the kitchen working on their computers. They looked up and said hello when the women walked in.

“Where are Gray and Harry?”

Shane looked up from his computer. “Harry is taking a nap in the first bedroom, and Gray is in his office.”

Mary headed toward the bedroom and Sam went in the other direction to where Gray was sitting in his office. When she walked in, he looked up at her and smiled.

“Hey there. Did you have a successful shopping day?”

She walked over and climbed on his lap.

“I did, actually we all did. We bought out the whole of Harmony.”

Gray laughed. “I better get back to work then.”

He hugged her tight. “I’m glad you’re home. I missed you.”

She smiled and looked into his tired eyes. “I missed you, too. You’re going to love my dress. I’m excited for you to see it.” She softly ran her fingers over his face, smoothing the tired lines she saw. If she could simply swipe away the worry, she’d happily do it.

He leaned back in his chair pulling her with him.

“I have no doubt. With you wearing it, anything would be beautiful.”

She kissed him—a sweet, slow, wet kiss, sliding her lips over his.

“I need a nap. How about you?”

“That sounds great. Dad just went to lay down about a half hour ago. We had a nice talk this morning. It was nice spending the day with him, even though we were stuck in the house. We sat and shot the breeze and talked about so much. Were your ears ringing?”

She laughed. “Is that what that was? I thought it was from all the girls talking at the same time.”

He hugged her close again.

“One more thing. We thought if you girls don’t mind, that the guys would come here tonight. We’ll stay in the basement. We’re fully stocked down there, plenty of places for us to sleep, and we have a bathroom and food. So, if you don’t mind, I thought it would be easier on David to have his security team in one place. I hate to spread his operation so thin.”

“Oh, that’s perfectly fine, Gray. We won’t mind at all. Besides, if I need to see you I can sneak down the stairs and grab a quick kiss and hug.”

He laughed. “If you tempt me, it could be more than that!”

She giggled, and he squeezed her once more. He set her on her feet and stood. Taking her hand, he walked them to the bedroom. When the door closed, he turned, wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her. His tongue slid into her mouth, and his hands roamed over her body. He put one hand behind her head holding her in place while his other hand kneaded her breast and pinched her nipple, rolling it to a tight pucker. Her breaths were labored, and her body was on fire.
