“How do you feel about sushi?” she asks.

“Um, honestly? I’ve never had it.”

“Seriously?”

I glance down at my slightly worn out boots and raise an eyebrow at her. “Are you really that surprised?”

She laughs a little and says, “Good point. Are you opposed to trying sushi?”

“Doyoulike sushi?”

“Ilovesushi.” She sighs and I laugh.

“Then we’re eating sushi. Tell me where to go.”

Chapter Thirteen

Lucy

Wyattcleansupnice.Really nice. Like, make-a-girl-a-little-weak-in-the-knees nice. And he smells amazing. I think he’s wearing some kind of cologne—something with hints of pine and a clean scent I can’t quite place. It’s making me feel a little dizzy.

“Lucy?”

My cheeks flush as I realize I’ve been caught staring. Wyatt grins at me, leaning his chin in his hand.

“Sorry, what did you say?” I ask.

“Lucille, were you getting lost in my eyes?” he asks with mock seriousness.

I roll my eyes. “Narcissism isn’t a good color on you, you know.”

He winks at me as he takes a sip from his drink, my eyes immediately going to his lips.

“Maybe not, but blue is.”

Well, he had me there. The waitress walks up and puts our sushi in front of us and I focus all my attention on my amazing meal instead of the way that button-up fits his shoulders like a glove.

“This looks amazing,” I groan.

“Mm, I agree,” Wyatt says.

I look up, but he’s not looking at the sushi. His eyes are laser-focused on me, and I feel my neck flushing again. He’s gonna have to stop saying things like that, looking at me like that, or I’m going to turn into a puddle.

“Uh, are you going to try it?” I ask, pointing at the sushi.

Wyatt rubs his hands together and looks down at the food.

“Absolutely. What should I try first?”

“Do you like salmon?” I ask.

“I think so?”

I point to a fried roll in the middle with salmon, cream cheese, spicy mayo and eel sauce—it’s my personal favorite.

“Then try that one,” I tell him.

“Yes ma’am.” He salutes.
