Dee can be a fucking territorial bitch when she wants to be. “Play nice, Dee,” I warn with a stern look.

“I’m always nice,” she practically purrs, licking her lips and narrowing her eyes at me. “You know that better than anyone, K.”

I swear I feel Sienna’s entire body stiffen beneath my fingertips. Her expression is hard to decipher, but she doesn’t offer her hand and neither does Dee and while I’ve got no idea what’s going on between them, I find myself stealing glances at Sienna the entire time to make sure she’s alright.

“Jonesy’s my therapist,” I explain. Unfortunately, the instant the words are out of my mouth I wish I could suck them straight back in again.Therapist.Nah, she’s so much more than that, and I want the guys to know it. “Not for much longer, though,” I add, somewhat clumsily, and it totally feels like I’m covering up for something. “She’s not my therapist for much longer. We’re going on tour, Jonesy. We leave in two months. How cool is that?”

“Very cool.”

Nick, ever the mood killer, rises to his feet and walks toward me, slapping me on the shoulder. “We’re here for you if you need us. You know that. Honestly, we just want you to start feeling yourself again.”

Dee snorts, and we all turn to look at her. “What? Oh, come on, that was funny. Kael, feeling himself. He’s been doing that for years.”

The guys all laugh, and surprisingly Nick laughs, too. I laugh as well because it is kind of funny, but when I turn around and glance over at Sienna, she isn’t laughing.

In fact, she’s giving Dee the evil eye as she picks her files back up again and turns toward the door. “It was nice meeting you, Nick,” she says sweetly, nodding to the other guys. “Reed, Jaxon. I’m sure you’ll have an amazing tour. It was great meeting you both. ”

They tell her the same or variations thereof, and then she’s gone.

“She’s lovely,” Dee quips. Always the bitch.

I don’t bother justifying her smart remark with a response though. Instead I focus my attention back on the contracts in my hands, happily signing away my future, a future that puts me back on stage with the guys, my band, our band.

Cold Neptune.

I can’t fucking wait.

Day 32

“What’s… that?”

I’m standing in the doorway of Sienna’s office, my fingers gripping the doorframe, staring at what is very obviously a guitar case lying in the middle of the floor.

“What does it look like?” she replies dryly.

My eyes travel briefly to meet hers, and I find her staring back at me with a hint of a smile that betrays her voice. I like it when she smiles at me with her eyes because it’s been a really long time since a woman has looked at me like that and I’ve actually felt seen. Sienna doesn’t just look at you with her eyes, she touches you with them and I swear I feel it in every cell in my body.

“I know what it looks like, but why is it here?”

“The guy in the music shop said it’s a Gibson, if that means anything to you.”

“It does, but—”

“It’s secondhand and not nearly as pretty as the other guitars he had hanging on the walls of his store, but he said it’s in good condition, and it still plays really well.”

“What’s it for?”

Her gaze flashes to the side, and then her smile widens while my chest cracks open with how stunning her smile is. Man, her smile could stop traffic.

“It’s for you.”

“You bought me a guitar?”

She sits forward on the couch, trying to hide the obvious excitement in her eyes. “It didn’t cost much,” she says, rubbing small circles against her thighs with her fingertips. “I know the guy who owns the place. He gave me a good deal.”

“You know a guy who owns a music store?”
