Her eyes fluttered open, and she rasped with each breath, “That was unbelievable.”
“You’d better believe it, princess. And there is a whole hell of a lot more where that came from.” And then I surprised even myself by rubbing my cheek against hers. It was a tender, intimate gesture. I laid a kiss on the curve of her ear. “Come on, let’s dry you off.”
Talia nodded and let me lead her to bed.
Chapter 65 – Talia
Ifell into a deepsleep, bones and muscles weary.“I can’t bear to lose you.”His words kept playing through my mind. I’d known I felt this way; now he did too. Sometime later in the day, a soft noise had me sitting up in bed. Heart hammering, I let out a harsh laugh, resisting the urge to clutch my aching side.
“You scared me, Constantine,” I said, breathing hard.
Those dark eyes dropped to my heaving, naked chest. I ran a hand through my hair, which was wild from the shower and not having been dried or combed before jumping in bed.
“I’m sorry,” he muttered, bringing the bed tray toward me. Rich scents of coffee wafted from the steaming cup. I scooted the pillows up, arranging them so he could lay in bed beside me.
As he gently curled into me, I noted his gray sweatpants and white tee, and the restless, pensive look on his face. I took the coffee mug, blowing on the steaming liquid, and took a tentative sip. “This is delicious, thank you. But, my raging dragon, what is wrong?”
He barked a laugh at the name. “That’s different.”
“I know, I’m trying it on for size.” I gave him a small smile. “We’ll see how it goes.”
“Hmm,” Constantine murmured non-committedly.
I put the cup down and trailed a finger down his face. “What is it?”
His whole body stiffened. “Viktor’s sister was able to hack into the assassin’s database. It’s unclear who hired them to infiltrate our villa.”
I let out a harsh breath. “Then we don’t know if it was my father. Well, it doesn’t matter, because I have a plan.”
He hummed into my hair.
“You’re not going to like it.”
“Don’t say it then.”
