“As you wish.” He dropped his hold but didn’t move away. Black wrath simmered in his eyes, his breathing hard.
Without breaking his gaze, I took in his appearance. Immaculate. His hair was soft and brushed from his face. The silky dark mess begged to be touched. His face was smoothly shaved, the suit perfect, even in this heat.
“Where have you been?” I demanded, still channeling too much of my own rage to stay calm.
A brow shot to his forehead. “Are you scolding me?”
“You haven’t been around.” I crossed my arms under my breasts, causing them to lift. “This is when we’re supposed to get to know one another. We can’t do that if you aren’t here to participate.”
“We already know one another. You’re the spawn of the devil, and I’m the dreaded butcher.”
Devil.“Is that the best insult you can give my father?” I spat.
“If the shoe fits.”
I shrugged it off. Clearly, the butcher was petty.
“You don’t believe me?” my husband breathed. He let out a short laugh. “Of course, how could you know.”
“Know what?” I demanded.
But the butcher shook his head. “It’s not my story to tell.”
Fine. He could keep his delusional stories to himself. My father was most definitelynotthe villain. Besides, this was the longest conversation we’d ever had. My mind switched to overdrive, channeling all the seduction I could. Angling my body toward him, I wet my lips. “Drakos.”
His head jerked in question. “Yes?”
“No, I meant my name is TaliaDrakos. You used it on the plane, and I’m more than my father’s daughter. Get to know me.”
The butcher let out a humorless laugh. “We’ll see. Pool’s all yours, princess.” He turned sharply and left.
I curled my fists by my sides and nearly screamed at him.
Chapter 16 – Constantine
As I stalked away fromthe swimming pool room, I fumed over the showdown. Both women were to blame, and if this was the sort of drama that was going to constantly arise, I would go gray before my time. But as my ire cooled, the tick of new information flared to life. How much did Talia truly know?
