Chapter One

Bones turned over in his bed and reached for his Silk woman but came up with empty arms. He opened his eyes and growled. She wasn’t here with him. This wasn’t the first time in the last week that she’d been gone from the bed either. Pushing the covers off, he grabbed his jeans. He didn’t bother buckling them as he went in search of his wife.

Walking through the darkened house, he checked on TBone and Shaw to find them sound asleep. When he entered the living room, he found Melora out on the deck. She was sitting there in the dark with her laptop open and she was busy typing something. He walked up behind her and watched her for a moment through the glass of the patio doors.

She seemed so intent on what she was typing, that she never even noticed he was standing there.

Bones frowned and didn’t like the idea that she didn’t even realize he was there. He thought about tapping on the glass, but then his nostrils flared and he opened the door instead.

Melora turned quickly and gasped, closing her laptop immediately. “Sam, you scared me. I thought you were sleeping.”

“I was sleeping until I reached for you and you weren’t there,” Bones grumbled. “Who were you talking to?”

“No one,” she whispered. “I was just looking for some shoes.”

Bones glared at her attempt to lie to him. “Shoes? Don’t you usually buy your shoes in person?”

Melora shrugged her shoulders. “I found a place that has shoes I liked and I thought I would just see what they had.”

“Well, it's too damn early in the day to worry about shoes, woman. Come back to bed.” Bones growled.

“I’ll be along in a few minutes, babe. Go on back to bed, ok?”

Bones glared at her but turned around and went back to their bedroom. He stripped his jeans off and laid back down. All he could do was stare at the ceiling. As far as he knew, Melora had never lied to him before but she lied tonight. He knew it and she knew he knew it.

Was she getting tired of living with him? Was the age difference finally making a difference? She’d always told him it didn’t matter but was it mattering now? She’d been holding a secret for over a week now. At least that was when he first noticed it. A week ago. He glanced over at the clock beside the bed...1:45 a.m.

He watched the clock for three full minutes then he growled again. He knew he had never been a patient man, but he didn’t care. He had to find out what the hell his wife was up to. He moved to push the covers off again but then the door opened.

Melora came inside and took off her robe. She made her way to the bed on silent feet and then laid down beside him.

Bones turned to wrap his arms around her. She felt cold to the touch and he shivered as he hugged her close. “You’re cold, baby.”

Melora snuggled into his embrace and whispered, “Well then, warm me up, old man.”

Bones felt his heart start pounding at her words. Old Man. Did she really think he was an old man? Was she looking for someone younger to replace him? Damn, he never thought she would do that to him. They had been together now for almost six years and he’d been happy damnit.

She was the first woman he hadn’t felt the need to leave in his rearview mirror and now he was going to lose her? No fucking way....Leaning down to kiss her, she responded. He lost his head and took her breath away. Tearing her pajamas off, he ravished her with his mouth all over her skin. He lowered his fingers and thrust two into her while sucking on her nipples. He felt like he couldn’t get enough silk. He raised his head and kissed her deeply again. He never even thought about what he was doing as he kissed along her neck and positioned himself at her core then plunged into her with one deep thrust. He tucked his arms underneath her and propelled her up to his hips as he stroked himself rapidly inside of her.

Melora kept thrashing her head back and forth on the pillow as she whimpered and moaned. Suddenly, she arched her body up and came while calling out his name. So lost in her passion, she looked dazed and sated.

Bones still had more to give her as he kept thrusting into her, as he again crushed her mouth with his. He reached that abyss and came inside her.

Finally, he rolled off her and just stared at the ceiling as he tried to catch his breath.

Turning to him as the sweat dried on their bodies, she whispered breathlessly, “Wow. That was incredible.”

Bones smirked. “Not such an old man now am I?”

Melora stared at him for a moment then said, “I never said you were Sam. What is going on inside that head of yours?”

“Nothing’s going on inside my head, what’s going on inside yours?” Bones asked her.

She just shook her head. “Nothing baby, I got nothing going on.” Kissing his cheek, she closed her eyes and went to sleep.

Bones just stared at her in the dimly lit room and furrowed his brows. He then stared at the ceiling for a long time. In fact, he was still staring at the ceiling when dawn came a few hours later.

Getting out of bed without waking her, he pulled his jeans on and then walked through the dark house. He grabbed a beer and went outside to sit on the patio. A beer in the morning... He shook his head. He needed it though. He almost wished he smoked, so he could have something to do with his hands.
