Sam returned and announced, “Deke is on his way over here since this might affect the whole MC, along with some of the brothers. They need to know the details of your leaving Little Creek and why. And they need to know who’s after you.”

Danny nodded. “I understand.”

Sam shook his head. “No boy, I don’t think you do. Troy, New York belongs to the Sin’s Bastards MC. We don’t like other MC’s coming into our territory with the idea of causing trouble. We have a reason not to want your woman’s brothers or her boyfriend’s MC here. They mean to cause trouble, maybe even get someone killed here. If they followed you all the way from the Chicago area, they are looking to get their hands on your daughter and take her back to a life no female should live.”

Danny snapped up his head and looked over at Melora and shook his head. “If something happens to me, you have to promise me those bastards won’t get to Breanna. Please?”

Melora shook her head. “Of course, nothing will happen to you but I Will watch over your daughter.”

“No, Melora.” Sam shook his head. “You won’t be alone in this. You are my wife, for better or worse, if something happens to Danny, we will watch over his kid. I was wrong about what you were doing but when you didn’t tell me what was going on, I had nothing else to go on. Now that I know what’s really happening, I won't let anything happen to her.”

Danny exhaled a deep breath and he looked relieved to hear this.

Melora stared at Sam and said, “I tried to tell you, but I couldn’t. It wasn’t my secret to tell and Danny couldn’t take the risk of his ex finding out.”

Sam nodded. “I remember what you said but I was just too damn mad to hear it back then. But you weren’t exactly speaking clearly either, Silk. You were talking some kind of code and I wasn’t listening well enough to know that. I’m older than you and I don’t know this code shit when I hear it, I guess. Next time, just tell me in plain English what’s going on. I wouldn’t betray you or your friends but if I don’t know about it, I can’t help you.”

Danny shook his head. “That’s on me, sir.” He looked over at Melora. “I begged her not to tell anyone. I knew you were a biker and I just couldn’t take the chance you would spill my whereabouts to someone.”

Sam snorted and glared at Danny, “Not every MC abuses women and kids but I can only claim that for my MC. My son Deke is president here and he would never allow that. Just the same as not every MC is legit but we are here. This is one of the better clubs.”

“I can see that now.” Danny nodded. “The thing is I had no one I could trust in my life. Melora was the only person that had ever been straight up with me. Rylan wasn’t happy being with me, so she went out and made some new friends after she had the baby. Breanna doesn’t even know her own mother. She never married me and I’ve never been more thankful about that than I am right now. But I made sure I put my name on that birth certificate and I have a blood test showing I am her dad. At least I have that.”

“And you might need that to prove you’re her parent too.” Mountain nodded. “Any MC worth their salt will demand that much. But as for the rest of it, if her brothers don’t care to step up for her, what makes you think they will stop her from turning over her little girl to a dealer or her pimp?”

Danny shook his head. “I don’t know if they would, honestly. But I know I won’t step down or away from protecting my baby girl. It's all I can do.”

A knock sounded on the door.

When Sam opened it, he saw his son and a few other brothers, then moved to the side.

Deke and the others stepped in.

Deke paused when he saw Melora and then Danny. He turned to Sam and asked, “What’s this all about, Dad?”

“This is Melora’s childhood friend, Danny.” Sam motioned to the other man. “He contacted her a few weeks ago and told her that he and his 4 year old daughter were in trouble. The girl’s mother left them a long time ago, so he’s the only parent she’s ever known. Now her mom comes around and tells him she’s taking the girl to her dealer to get money knocked off her bill and he wasn’t about to let that happen. Melora told him to leave his home and come here. He didn’t know that the MC she's with had followed him. Then they tried to take the girl on the road. He didn’t let that happen. Melora went to get them and her car got all shot up along with her phone. They got a rental but it ran out of gas five miles away from here. They finally made it back here but they don’t know if the bikers followed them or not.”

Deke looked over at Danny and asked, “What’s your sister’s MC? The one she’s with now?”

“The Devil's Minions,” Danny replied. “But her brothers belong to the Satan’s Warriors.”

“Well, shit,” Deke swore. “Those are two of the worst MC’s around.”

Gator shook his head. “Doesn’t surprise me that the Minions would trade in flesh like that. It does surprise me that they would go so low in age but kiddie porn is everywhere nowadays. It’s just not right.”

Deke snorted. “Ya think?” Shaking his head he added, “What’s even worse is that it’s her mother that’s willing to turn her over.”

“I’m sorry,” Danny apologized. “I had to get Melora involved, but I didn’t have anyone else to go to. I never imagined that she was with you guys.” He shook his head. “This has been fucked up since the start.”

“No son.” Sam shook his head. “My woman is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, other than my kids. You put your trust in the one person that could make this happen and that’s just what she did, she got you here, alive. Now we just have to keep you and your little girl safe.” He turned to look at Melora and said, “I knew in my heart she would never betray me. She just isn’t the type of woman to do that. I should have listened to her better and that’s on me. I was too blinded by my own jealousy to hear what she was saying. But not anymore.” He then glanced back over at Danny. “You’re here now and I’ll stand behind you to keep your little girl.”

Deke nodded. “So be it. If Dad is willing to stand behind you, we will all be there as well.”

Mountain stood from his chair and looked over at Melora, “Why don’t Izzy and I pick up TBone from school and keep him overnight. We can take Shaw with us and that way, they won’t be here if there’s trouble tonight.”

Melora nodded and looked over at Sam. “Maybe that would be a good thing.”

Sam gave her a nod.
