Danny shook his head. “Then you’re a better man than I am. I could never forgive Rylan for doing what she has done.”

“That right there is the difference, son.” Sam shook his head. “Your woman was lying and betraying you, where mine wasn’t. She was keeping a secret and when all is said and done, I can’t blame her. If she had told me about you and Breanna I might have come with my brothers and started a war, no one would win. The real truth might have been lost along with several riders and for what?”

Colt looked up at his brothers. “Well, we know what we have to do, don’t we.”

Taker nodded. “Yeah, we have to confront Rylan and her man.”

Boss looked over at Colt and asked, “How many riders did you see with Rylan?”

“Four,” Colt replied.

Danny nodded. “That’s how many we saw when they cornered us at the rest stop.”

Taker looked over at Sam.“We’ll lead them out of town and confront them maybe near Albany. “

“You guys need some backup?” Sam asked his old friend.

Taker shook his head. “Nah brother, this is our mess, our family business. We should be able to set things straight.”

“But if I and a couple of the brothers followed you, would you mind?” Sam asked. “I know just how bad some showdowns can go and at least we’d have your back if something went wrong.”

“Appreciate it, Bones. And if we don’t need you?” Taker asked.

“Then you won’t see us and neither will they. But something tells me you just might need backup. These minions don’t seem to be legit in any way.” Sam shook his head.

“That, they aren’t,” Flame agreed with him.

“Let me make a call to Deke and get some brothers together. We’ll be in the shadows, but I want to know your sister is no longer a threat to Danny and Breanna.”

Sam put the call into Deke and they waited for the brothers to show up. After a bit, they all left for Albany. A couple of the Sin’s stayed behind to watch over Sam’s house and family.

They all got to a rest area outside of Albany before Boss called Rylan.

When she asked where they were, he told her.

Twenty minutes later, four riders pulled in and parked in front of Rylan’s four brothers.

Rylan got off Crank’s bike. She walked over to Boss and Taker and demanded, “Where is Breanna? Where is my kid?”

Taker shrugged. “I don’t know, we haven’t found Danny or the kid yet.”

“Then why are we here?” Rylan narrowed her eyes at him.

“What the hell are you doing, riding with the Minions?” Flame asked his sister.

“What the fuck do you care who I ride with?” Rylan sneered. “I’m with Crank because Danny bored me to tears. I was too young to grow old with him, all he did was go to work and come home to a squalling brat.”

“If she was a brat, what you need her for now then?” Taker wanted to know.

“She’s old enough now she don’t need twenty-four seven care. She’s still my kid and you were supposed to help me find her.” Rylan shrugged. Then she began to scratch her arms nervously.

Flame noticed it. He looked over at Taker and shook his head slightly. Then he turned his head to glare at Crank and his brothers. They were hiding something and her brothers knew it.

Flame turned back to Rylan and told her, “I heard a rumor the other day and I want you to tell me the truth. Are you in hock to Papa Doc?”

“What’s Doc got to do with this?” Rylan asked with a hint of fear in her voice. “Doc doesn’t have anything to do with this situation at all.”
