Oh... shit. This was definitely not what I had planned. Not tonight. “Good evening, Tiffany,” I said, purposely leaving the door wide open so that I wasn’t trapped inside the suite with her.

She pushed the trolley all the way over to the dining table then made a big display of putting the silver dishes out onto the table for me. When she turned back around, she frowned at me. “Aren’t you coming in?”

I tilted my head towards the exit in a none-too-subtle gesture. “I’ll show you out, then I’ll eat.”

She flicked her hair over her shoulder dramatically and began unbuttoning her white blouse. “My shift finished ten minutes ago,” she said suggestively. “So, why don’t I hang around for a little while? We can catch up. It’s been a while.”

Her ample cleavage was exposed now, and I couldn’t stop my mind from drifting back to the time we’d spent together just last year. Tiffany was a straight ten by most people’s standards. She had lovely clear skin, a pretty face, and a killer body. But tonight? She didn’t even so much as rouse a single throb in my cock. I’d been fooling myself to think I could even stay a day in this place. I wanted to go home. This wasn’t for me—not anymore.

I’d tasted literal paradise in Jaydy’s loving arms and the last thing I wanted to do was go crawling on my hands and knees through the proverbial desert again, begging for a simple glass of water. It would do nothing to quench the thirst I had. “Thanks for the offer,” I told the young woman who worked in the restaurant downstairs, “but I think I’ll just head to bed.”

She put both hands on her hips and widened her stance. “I’ll join you.”

I dropped my head and groaned. I didn’t want to be cruel, but Tiffany clearly wasn’t taking the hint. “I’m going to sleep. Please go.”

She hurried over to me, not to leave, but to place her hands on me. Her nails raked over my bare chest, and I shuddered, stepping away from her. Her touch felt so wrong that I couldn’t bear it.

“Nicky... is something the matter?” She pouted, leaning towards me again as if I were simply pussy-shy. “I’ve been looking forward to you visiting againallyear,” she emphasized.

I sighed and pushed open the door as far as it would go. “I’m not here for that, Tiffany. Sorry,” I added curtly.

She hurried to button her shirt up once more, her eyes flashing in hurt and defiance. “What’s wrong? Do you fancy men, now or something?” she snarked, as if she’d never been turned down before.

I snorted out a laugh. “No. I’m getting married, actually, and trust me on this. My fiancé wouldn’t take kindly to this little tête à tête.”

Tiffany’s glare would have torn shreds off a lessor man, but I wasn’t phased. Not even by the lie I’d just told. It felt right, and if I had my way, it would be true soon enough.

Tiffany stuck her nose in the air and marched out in a flurry of blonde fury.

I slammed the door behind her and sat down to enjoy my steak in peace while it was still warm. I’d have a good night’s sleep in that massive bed—alone. Then I’d put together a plan in the morning to get my Mrs. Claus back.

Chapter 14.

Jaydy.

I’D BEEN BACK FROMthe North Pole for two days and it was pretty damn clear that I’d made a fucking monumental mistake. I shook my head at myself. “My bloody temperalwaysgets the better of me,” I muttered in dismay.
