“Don’t fucking touch me,” I growled, sitting up and shuffling to the other end of the couch.

“But you’re always so—”

When she went to place her hands on me again, I stood up. “I’m not fucking doing this.”

“Does this mean that I win?” Michelle giggled.

“Piss off,” I snarled, storming out of the room.

I grabbed my coat from Radiant’s coatroom, barely shrugged it on before I slipped out a back door, and headed straight for my car. This stress had been from work, not from not seeing Sierra. She was a student who needed my help.

Nothing more.

But the thought of her wouldn’t leave me the fuck alone.

Deciding that I needed to turn in for the night, I headed back to my place, parked in the garage, and walked through the lobby, straight for the elevators. I couldn’t fucking believe Michelle.

After running my hand over my face, I tapped the elevator button and ran my tongue across the front of my teeth. I didn’t want to wait until Monday. I had gone five long days without seeing her and had no excuse to invite her back to the club for a punishment or another class.

But when the doors opened, I stared at Sierra Monroe, holding a box of Swirl Scoops Ice Cream.

Clasping a box of Swirl Scoops Ice Cream in my hands, I stared at the elevator floor. Well, I hadn’t wanted to see Professor Patton anyway. He was probably with some girl like Heather and hadn’t answered his door when I knocked because I had completely overstepped our boundaries.

Being at Radiant was different than being with him in real life.

I should know better. I should fucking know better.

I stepped out of the elevator and frowned. Stupid me couldn’t stop thinking about him all week, so much so that I had come up with the lamest excuse to buy a box of his favorite ice cream that I had eaten all of on Monday night and—

Someone stepped in front of me, seized the back of my neck, and moved forward, causing me to stumble back into the elevator. I yelped out and snapped my gaze up to the man as the elevator doors closed.

“Look what we have here,” Steven murmured, pinning me to the metal wall.

My jaw fell open, and I attempted to shut it.

Fuck.

“I-I can explain,” I said in my defense, holding the box of ice cream to my chest. “I wanted … I was going … I came to give you, um …” My throat dried as I tried to find any excuse that would fit the reason why I was really here.

Come on, Sierra. You practiced this at home!

He curled his full lips into a devilish smirk. “What are you doing here, Miss Monroe?”

“I wanted to … return the favor for letting me eat the rest of your ice cream the other night,” I said, slamming the box right into his chest and hoping that he didn’t see through my lame excuse of wanting to see him before the next class. “S-sorry.”

It had either been this or show up at Radiant.

And I couldn’t fucking do that. No way in hell. I had contemplated everything for the past few days and decided that heading to Radiant to see if Steven was Hector was a no-go. Plus, I didn’t have the money for it. It would cost me literally an arm and a leg with its six-figure annual fee for members. Thank God that they had a huge–nearly free–educational program, or I would’ve never come here.

After grabbing the box from me, he arched his brow. “What’s that look?”

“What look?”

“That one on your face.”
