"Especially about how you liked certain elements."

"Oh, you mean because my reactions weren't answer enough," I replied with a snort, which he returned not a second later.

"Or because I would like it if it was normal to talk about it."

I shook my head in disbelief. "Then give me some time, K. Or my brain will implode."

And as if agreeing with me wasn't enough, he slid further toward me and casually let an arm slide across my back. As if it was perfectly normal. As if we hadn't just turned a hundred and eighty degrees in the blink of an eye, which had recently led to my best friend giving me orgasms and fucking my head in a way that had left me completely helpless.

Honolulu Sun. That was the name I had given to the luxury resort that covered about 30 acres and offered guests everything a Hawaiian holidaymaker could wish for. We were close to the beach– which was the hotel's private beach– and we had a huge elevated pool area so you could see the sea and the neighboring islands from the infinity pool. On clear, sunny days you could see for miles, and the sunsets, when you lay by the pool looking up at the sky between the yards of green palms, were awe-inspiring.

All of this was done because we didn't want to make Hawaii look like it does in the media.

In addition to the classic hotel rooms, there were some separate apartments and small cottages right on the beach. Hundreds of staff made sure everything ran smoothly.

So it was no surprise to hear loud summer music coming from the neighboring apartments early in the morning– and to find Kaia working on my terrace as soon as I rose to take stock of the previous night.

Well, so much for that.

My eyes fell on Nikau, who was still fast asleep. She was lying on her stomach, the blanket wrapped around her waist just enough to keep her from giving Kaia an impressive show. Normally this would be the point where I would wake the woman in my bed and send her home, but I had no desire to get rid of Nika, nor did I intend to lie to my sister about what had happened. Especially as it was too late for that anyway.

She was sitting on my patio. It was likely she had a very clear idea of what had happened here.

I got up, grabbed a pair of boxers, pulled them on and decided not to ignore Kaia's presence. Instead, I joined her, eager to hear what she had to say.

"Do you realize what time it is?" I started the conversation.

She looked at me with slightly narrowed eyes. "It's noon, yes. That means you missed two meetings already. And, believe it or not, all your nice business partners are insanely reluctant to talk numbers with a woman."

But that didn't stop Kaia from putting her feet on the table and pretending she had more balls than all my business partners combined.

"I was otherwise occupied," I replied, not a bit sorry I had missed anything.

Kaia tipped her head back and stared directly into my bedroom for a few seconds, then straightened up to look at me. "Yeah, I noticed. I didn't realize you and Nikau were in this kind of relationship."

It was clear from her words that she was teasing. Still, I did not like it.

"Is that why you want her to work here?"

"I want her to work here because I don't want her to feel the need to go back to Iowa."

Kaia wrinkled her nose. "Who would volunteer to live there?"

Well, that was a question she'd better discuss with Nikau, because I hadn't found an explanation for it yet.

"Speaking of work," Kaia changed the subject a few seconds later. "I can put her in the kitchen. They always need help and I remember her doing it before?"

Confirming, I nodded.

"And what if she doesn't want you to be her boss?"

I couldn't help but grin. I only wanted to give Nikau orders in one respect, and that had very little to do with the resort. But I wouldn't tell Kaia. Even if she could figure it out for herself, I certainly wouldn't be having a conversation with my sister about what had happened if she hadn't commandeered my terrace and ambushed me there. "I think that would be my problem, not yours."

"Sure," she murmured, "and you do know what you're doing here, don't you? Or are you planning on missing any more important meetings in the future? If so, I'd like to know about it in advance."

"Don't worry. Everything will be fine from now on," I assured her. In fact, I hadn't missed a meeting in the last few years, for any reason, but that didn't mean Nikau was going to make sure I missed any more critical appointments.
