"Well, more like tonight, but I want you to be able to give yourself enough time to get ready for it."

"I need to prepare?"

"Choosing an appropriate outfit and all that stuff…"

I immediately raised an eyebrow. "Where are we going?"

But Kaden shrugged, unwilling to give me a proper answer. "You'll find out when we get there. A date on my terms. Those were your words."

I had agreed under duress, knowing that I would not get what I wanted if I did not. Not that the date had been a complete success. On the contrary. Things had come to light that I would rather not even think about. Kaden had always been stubborn, but his inability to see how much he was hurting himself surpassed that original stubbornness. Still, I couldn't blame him. But I couldn't force him to do something he didn't want to do either, so I decided to ignore the subject.

I groaned. Whatever he had come up with would surely make me regret it later– having made him this promise in the first place. Getting involved in something when I knew exactly where it would end up.

"Why don't you just tell me what to wear?"

The answer came faster than I had expected. "Something that emphasizes your assets. And something that makes it clear who owns you. But I'll take care of that myself."

I looked up at him skeptically, shielding my eyes with my hand. "Kaden… where are we going?"

But he just shrugged again. "You'll find out soon enough. Tonight at eight, you're mine."

As if I did not belong to him at any time of the day or night…

But I nodded, feeling a strange anticipation that couldn't even be justified.

I still didn't knowwhat Kaden had planned for the date, but at least he seemed to like my choice of a red dress. At the back, the neckline went almost to the end of my spine, while at the front it stopped just above my navel, emphasizing all my assets as Kaden put it.

As I looked in the mirror and imagined how others would perceive my appearance, I immediately realized that their gaze would not be able to decide. My skin, which shimmered golden, or my breasts, which were set off perfectly by the dress. My collarbone, which blended elegantly with my shoulders, especially when I drew them back a little. My back… or my ass, there were so many possibilities and I agreed that the red dress was a damn good choice. Combined with the high heels that wrapped around my calves a bit, the look seemed perfect.

Things got even more interesting when Kaden drove up in his car– an absolute luxury car that I would never have expected him to drive, and yet I thought it suited him better than anything else I could have imagined.

He was wearing a suit I had never seen him in before. It fit better. Seemed more elegant. And made him even more handsome than he already was. Every time I looked at him, I felt my pulse flutter and shoot up.

We looked like one of those power couples in the glossy magazines. Either he wanted us to look like that, which would mean the press would be there tonight, or it was one of those coincidences that showed once again how well we harmonized.

I felt the tension of the evening even as I slid into the car beside him on the cool leather.

"Are you going to tell me where we're going?"

A grin tugged at the corners of his mouth as he shook his head. "Afraid you'll have to show a little more patience to know."

"Are you worried I'll want to go back to the resort if you tell me where we're going?"

"No … I just want to see the look on your face when you find out what it is I'm going to do with you."

Somehow I had a feeling this wasn't about food. Or anything a normal person would have called dating.

I hadan inkling of where this was going as we turned into the road that led into the industrial estate. Part of me felt the same anticipation as before, and another part was seriously worried about whether this was the right thing to do. Whether Kaden was serious about what he was doing– and whether he knew exactly what he was doing.

He stopped the sleek sports car right in front of the entrance to a massive brick building that looked out of place amongst all the warehouses and companies. Even from the outside it was obvious that the windows had been tinted. An inconspicuous facade which surely held a secret not fitted for everyone.

"Is that what I think it is?" I asked, my fingers digging into the seat. Unfortunately, if he had any intention of sharing me with anyone, I would have to hastily remind him of our contract and everything we had talked about.

I swallowed as the excitement was now joined by nervousness. It was an emotion that I wasn't quite as good at handling as the others.
