“Speaking of charm,” Amanda grinned, “I’ve decided on Eloise as my maid of honor. She’s been such a good friend to me since I arrived here, and I can’t think of anyone else I’d rather have by my side.”

“An excellent choice,” Queen Beatrice nodded in agreement. “Eloise is delightful, and I know she’ll be thrilled to stand with you on your special day.”

As they continued to discuss the details of the upcoming nuptials, Amanda felt a sense of contentment wash over her. She knew that marrying into royalty would come with its own set of challenges, but she was ready to face them head-on.

“Your Majesty,” Amanda said suddenly, an idea occurring to her. “What if we had a small dance performance at the reception? I know it’s unconventional, but I think it would bring so much joy to our guests.”

“An interesting suggestion,” Queen Beatrice mused, tapping her chin thoughtfully. “I rather like the idea, my dear. It’s something different and unexpected —just like your love story with James.”

Amanda felt a pang of guilt when the queen mentioned their love story. She and James...well, neither had mentioned love in regard to the other. But she couldn’t very well tell his mother that!

A faint breeze drifted through the open window, carrying the sweet scent of blooming flowers from the palace gardens. Amanda stared out at the lush greenery, a serene smile on her face as she enjoyed this rare moment of peace amidst the whirlwind of wedding planning.

“Your Majesty,” Amanda began hesitantly, turning to Queen Beatrice, who was sipping her tea delicately. “There’s something I haven’t mentioned yet, and it’s important for you to know.”

“Please, my dear, do tell,” replied the queen, setting down her teacup with a soft clink.

“Um, well,” Amanda fiddled with the lace on her dress, gathering courage. “I have no family left. So, there won’t be anyone coming from my side for the wedding.”

“Ah, I see,” Queen Beatrice replied gently, her eyes filled with understanding. “No need to worry, Amanda. Our family will become your family, and our people will embrace you as their own. I assure you, this palace will be filled with love and warmth during the festivities.”

“Thank you, Your Majesty,” Amanda murmured gratefully, feeling a sense of belonging wash over her.

“However,” continued Queen Beatrice, “I must insist that we celebrate your union with James on a grand scale. This is not only a personal occasion but also a matter of national importance—the wedding of our crown prince.”

Amanda bit her lip, torn between her desire for a small, intimate ceremony and her understanding of the queen’s point of view. “I understand, Your Majesty, but would it be possible to keep some aspects of the wedding more personal?”

“Of course, my dear,” the queen agreed with a warm smile. “We can strike a balance between royal tradition and your preferences. After all, this is your special day as well.”

“Thank you,” Amanda breathed a sigh of relief, her heart lightened by the queen’s support.

“Come now,” Queen Beatrice stood up gracefully, gesturing for Amanda to follow. “Let’s walk through the gardens and discuss your ideas for this perfect blend of royal and personal.”

As they strolled through the sun-dappled pathway, surrounded by vibrant flowers and birdsong, Amanda felt a sense of hope and excitement blooming within her.

The buzz in the kingdom had reached a fever pitch as news of the upcoming royal wedding spread far and wide. With the heightened atmosphere, Amanda’s senses sharpened, her eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger. She couldn’t shake the feeling that their happiness could be threatened at any moment.

“Ah, here comes Madame Leclerc,” Queen Beatrice said, gesturing toward an impeccably dressed woman approaching them. Amanda turned to see the modiste, known for her exquisite taste and skill in creating beautiful garments. “She will help you find the perfect wedding dress.”

“Your Majesty, Miss Amanda, it is an honor to serve you,” Madame Leclerc greeted them with a curtsy. “I have brought a selection of our finest gowns for your perusal.”

“Thank you, Madame Leclerc,” Amanda replied, her voice soft yet firm. “I’m excited to see what you’ve brought.”

As they entered a spacious room, Amanda couldn’t help but gasp at the sight before her—a stunning array of wedding dresses displayed on mannequins, each one more breathtaking than the last.

“Take your time, my dear,” Queen Beatrice encouraged her. “Choose the one that speaks to your heart.”

“Your Majesty is right,” Madame Leclerc chimed in, her hands clasped together. “The perfect dress will call out to you.”

Amanda hesitated, her gaze darting from one gown to another, each one eliciting different emotions within her. She could almost hear them whispering to her, seducing her with their intricate details and luxurious fabrics.

“May I suggest this one?” Madame Leclerc presented a stunning creation, its delicate lace overlay shimmering like morning dew on a spider’s web. “It is a classic design, fitting for a future queen.”

“Let me try it on,” Amanda agreed, her heart racing as she stepped behind a screen to change into the gown.

As Amanda emerged from behind the screen, the room fell silent. The dress hugged her figure in all the right places, the lace cascading down to a train that seemed to float on air. She felt as though she were wrapped in a cloud of elegance and grace.

“Amanda,” Queen Beatrice whispered, her eyes shining with unshed tears. “You look radiant.”
