“Good, because that’s exactly what I was hoping you’d say.” James flashed her a roguish grin before scooping her up into his arms in one swift motion. “Now, allow me to show you our quarters for the evening.”

“James!” Amanda squealed with surprise and delight, wrapping her arms around his neck as he carried her effortlessly up the sweeping staircase.

“Anything to make my future-queen happy,” he replied, his voice filled with warmth and affection.

As they entered their lavish bedroom, Amanda marveled at the sumptuous fabrics and elegant furnishings. She knew this was just the beginning of their life together, and she couldn’t help but feel a sense of contentment wash over her.

“Thank you, James,” she whispered. “This has been the most amazing day of my life.”

“Mine too,” he murmured, tenderly brushing a stray curl from her cheek. “And I promise you, my love, it’s only going to get better from here.”

“Are you ready?” James asked gently, his eyes filled with both desire and concern for Amanda’s comfort.

Amanda bit her lip, nodding hesitantly. Despite the whirlwind romance and undeniable passion between them, this would be their first time truly joining as husband and wife. Her heart raced with anticipation, her hands trembling slightly.

“Always,” she whispered, reaching out to touch his face.

James smiled, capturing her hand in his and pressing a tender kiss to her palm. “I’ll be gentle, I promise,” he murmured.

As they lay down together, the satin sheets cool against their skin, James took a moment to study his new bride. The soft glow of the moonlight streaming through the bedroom window illuminated her delicate features. He couldn’t believe how lucky he was.

“Beautiful Amanda,” he breathed, leaning in to press a feather-light kiss on her lips.

“James, I—” Amanda’s voice hitched, her nerves getting the best of her.

“Shh, just relax,” James soothed, his thumb tracing circles over her wrist. “We’ll take it slow.”

Amanda closed her eyes, focusing on the warmth of his body pressed against hers, the rhythmic beating of his heart beneath her hand. She felt his fingers brush against her cheek before tangling themselves in her hair, tipping her head back to expose her throat. She shivered as his lips brushed against her skin, leaving a trail of searing kisses in their wake.

“James,” she gasped, her body responding to his touch despite her lingering nerves. “Please...”

“Of course, my love,” he replied, his voice husky with desire.

As they came together for the first time, Amanda marveled at how easily they fit, like two pieces of a puzzle clicking into place. They moved in tandem, their breaths mingling in the air between them as they whispered words of love and encouragement.

“Are you okay?” James asked.

“More than,” Amanda assured him, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. “You make me happy.”

“Then I’ve done my job,” he grinned, pressing a final lingering kiss to her forehead before pulling her into his embrace.

Chapter Nineteen

The sun crept in through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room. Amanda stirred, the unfamiliarity of her surroundings causing her to momentarily forget where she was. The sheets were cool and crisp beneath her fingertips, a stark contrast to the warmth emanating from the body lying next to her.

“James?” she whispered tentatively, turning toward him.

“Good morning, beautiful,” he murmured, his voice still heavy with sleep. A lazy smile spread across his face as he opened one eye to look at her. “You know, we should really make love right now.”

Amanda’s cheeks flushed pink, and she found herself grinning despite her initial confusion. “Why on earth would we do that?” she asked, feigning innocence.

“Because,” James replied, his tone mock-serious, “it’ll work up our appetites for breakfast. And I don’t know about you, but I am starving.”

Amanda couldn’t help but laugh at his absurd logic. She knew it was just one of James’s ways of showing affection, though it never failed to catch her off guard. “In that case,” she said coyly, “I suppose we have no choice.” Their lips met in a tender embrace, marking the beginning of their morning ritual.

Afterwards, with their hunger only intensified, James reached for the phone on the bedside table. “I think it’s time to call down to the kitchen and have them bring us something to eat,” he declared, still breathless from their passionate encounter.

“Sounds perfect,” Amanda sighed, snuggling closer to him as he dialed the number. She listened to him place the order, his deep voice resonating through the quiet room.
